Chapter 1: The Secret Behind the Walls

Standing in the highest and most exclusive part of the city was a massive mansion. It wasn’t just a house...it was like a palace, a perfect blend of modern and classic architecture. Vast lawns stretched out before it, tall trees towered above, and it was surrounded by high walls that seemed to guard a world meant to be hidden from ordinary eyes.

This was where Carlos lived.

To everyone else, he was a mysterious billionaire. Quiet, rarely seen in public, and practically nonexistent on social media. But the truth was, he possessed far more than just wealth. He had been alive for three hundred years.

Inside, the house was cool and silent. Floor to ceiling windows reflected light off polished floors, and every corner was filled with antiques from different eras. Carlos stood by one of the large windows, watching the city slowly being swallowed by the night.

He wore a simple white dress shirt with the top button undone and black slacks. Even without moving, his presence was undeniable...powerful, calm, yet laced with a deep sadness. His skin was as pale and smooth as porcelain, and his eyes seemed to see things beyond what others could perceive.

"Sir, dinner is ready," a voice broke the silence.

Carlos turned. It was Mang Roberto, his personal assistant and the only person who knew the entire truth about him. Roberto was already old, his hair streaked with gray and his skin marked by wrinkles, but his mind was still sharp and his loyalty unwavering.

"Thank you, Roberto," Carlos replied softly. "How long has it been since we first met?"

Roberto smiled as he arranged the plates on the table. "A very long time, Sir. Ever since I was just a child you took in. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for you."

Carlos simply nodded. It was true. Back then, he had found a young Roberto, hungry and homeless. He took him in, cared for him, and they became family. Roberto was the only witness to how he truly lived—that he didn't eat ordinary food, and that his life depended on the blood of wild animals, not humans.

"I need to leave later," Carlos said as he sat at the head of the long dining table.

"Everything is prepared, Sir. No one will see you," Roberto answered. He knew the routine by heart. Carlos would travel deep into the forests to get what he needed, keeping himself hidden so no one would get hurt.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city...

Lizzy stepped out of the hospital, exhausted. It was already late and dark, but for her, the long day of work was finally over.

She was a doctor living a simple life. She stayed in a small apartment, worked hard to support her family, and was always ready to help the sick.

She wore slightly wrinkled scrubs, a stethoscope around her neck, and carried her medical bag. She had fair skin, was of average height, and always had a smile on her face no matter how heavy the workload.

"Finally, time to go home," she whispered to herself, fixing her hair in a ponytail.

As she walked towards her old car, she couldn't help but glance towards the distant part of the city where the beautiful mansion stood atop the hill.

"It looks so beautiful there," she murmured. "I wish I had a house like that."

She chuckled softly and continued walking. She had no idea that the man living in that mansion was nothing like the people she knew. And she had no idea that their paths were about to cross....that her simple world was soon to collide with the world of a being who had lived for three centuries.

That night, as Carlos prepared to leave to find what he needed, and as Lizzy hurried home, neither of them knew that fate was already weaving their story together.

A world of wealth and secrets, and a world of simplicity and life.

They were about to meet.
