Prologue
In a concrete jungle, pretty much exactly like something you’re used to, I find myself lost in my own mind as I contemplate life, the universe and…….well, that’s a whole other story that I have no business getting involved with. Let me set the stage here, My name is Jennifer. Jen Murphy. I’m 22 years old and a nursing student at the local college. Yes, as you can tell by my name, I’m full blood Irish, which means I’ve got all the normal signs: strawberry blond hair, freckles around the nose and really, really green eyes. Nothing else is really all that extraordinary about me, I’m pretty average all the way around. Oh, except for the fact that I’m only half human.
Was that surprising? Well, apparently, it’s not that common, but before I can begin telling my story, it’s more common than I’m aware of. So, to explain myself, in the world, there are a number of people who are………not quite fully human. It’s something that I had to learn through the course of my story.. There’s Nephilim(that’s half angel), some Saevren(half dragon), and a few other things. Me? I’m actually half Fae. What’s a Fae? Well, faerie comes close, but that’s not really the whole story. I guess it makes sense, though. I am Irish, after all. Well, half-Irish, I guess. Anyway, just be patient with me and I’m sure you’ll pick it up the same way I did.
Anyway I can explain the rest of that later, but one last thing so that you’re not surprised by it later. Since I’ve half-Fae(I think they’re called Sylvari?), most of what I can do is about tricks and illusions and the like. I can change forms into a variety of animals(but there’s limitations on that, too), I can create illusions, both visible and audible, and a few other things. What? A girl is allowed to have some secrets. I’m not spilling it all here at once.
After all, it’s more entertaining that way. In any case, you came here for a story, and I should really get on with it.
