My name is Zynex and my brother’s name is Nick. We were both born into a typical Indian family. We grew up in the same environment, surrounded by study pressure and career tension.
Nick immediately chose to become an officer after our dad showed us an online post about a boy who cracked the civil services examination. But I was never the type to choose a career easily. I always wanted adventure, something unique, something different. So I chose to be a writer — a novelist.
At that time, I read chapters in my English notebook that inspired me even more.
Twenty years later, my brother became a highly respected officer, while I was still on my bench, surrounded by a mess of papers, writing something that people might like. One day, my dad came to me and asked why I was still trying. I looked up and said, “Nothing is impossible. I’ll prove myself.” Dad scolded me a bit but smiled and let it slide.
Then I wrote a book named Above. At first, it only had 50–60 readers. But the next morning, I suddenly saw my book had 100k checks. I was shocked. My name spread in society. I had done something that people in India don’t usually appreciate — but once you achieve it, they respect you.
My brother was so happy that he talked about me in one of his speeches. My dad was proud too. I told my mom, and she leaned close and patted me on the head. After that, my books kept growing in popularity.
