Night out with the boys

After working all day Lucy just wanted to head to her house and have a bath to get the day out of her hair. She lived in a shared house with six male co-workers, while they were living the single life, partying and drinking, she had become the housemother making sure the dishes got washed and clothes were folded and ironed. Lucy didn't mind doing this though, the more time they spent out of the house the cleaner it was, and made it almost feel like her home. People looked at her when she moved in, thinking she was crazy or something else to be sharing with all those men, but in truth she had been in a shared house with all girls; It was not as fun as it seemed, instead of pedicures and make-up sessions it was drama every day.

Lucy being a romantic would hear the drama and roll her eyes, they never took her advice, that talking to their boyfriends would solve ninety percent of their problems. Instead, they would play little games, cause drama to see his reaction or on occasion set them up to see if they were faithful, which always backfired.

As she picked up her bag to leave the office and clocked out, she was accosted by her house mates and the boss, who were always on her case for being a stick in the mud; “oh, no don't tell me your heading home after our most successful day in sales this week”, They were still all on a high from winning the team rally, and itching to hit the bars before getting blind drunk in a club somewhere. Lucy looked up tiredly and tried to reason with them, “I really need to go home for a bath and an early night, you guys go and have a good time, I'll be fine with a good book”. Her boss placed both his hands on her shoulders “not tonight sweet Lucy, you are part of the team, and it's about time you had a night off, bosses orders!”.

Reluctantly agreeing she scarpers off to the bathroom to dig through her handbag, and see what she has on her to make herself look like a girl. She takes down the tight bun, looks at the shirt she is wearing and ties it at the waist. She ditches the jacket and using her lipstick in the way only girls know how to, gives herself a full fresh face of make-up. Turning in the mirror she decides it is the best she is going to do with what she had got. Stuffing her card, door key and cash in her bra she bundles the rest up to put back in her locker.

When she leaves the bathroom, feeling like she has taken forever the boys are all waiting for her, surprised that she managed to transform that quick. Kerian runs to the toilet door and throws it open, Dan amused watches him, “what you up to idiot?”, Kerian looking round the walls and ceiling “where did the staff go? I was hoping to get a makeover before we left too!” Paul chuckles places Kerian in a headlock and drags him out towards the stairs.

Everyone piles down the stairs talking loudly and calling out their hopes for the evening. Most of it centred around finding some fit bird or getting an old flame to meet them. Lucy loved to hear them talk like this, it gave her an idea of how boys talked when the girls weren't around. She was raised with two brothers and lots of friends around; Nearly all her friends were boys she liked the way they were, straight forward; they would say what they mean and mean what they say. She loved the privileges that came with it too, eating pizza with no judgement, watching football and no pretences, she was one of the boys without being treated as a boy, just a cool sister.

They hit the first bar, and it was shots all round, with a start like this she knew what the night would bring, fun and kebab's. She just hoped they wouldn't all crash at the house because it is never fun locating where the smells are coming from the morning after or three days later. When a discarded kebab is found down the back of the sofa or someone has been sick in the bin. She tried to put the worries out of her mind and join in the fun as more drinks were had and congratulations were bestowed upon the team by the boss.
