The Rising of the Night
On Plane 25 the city of Dawn bathed in the white shining light of the moon in the midst of the night. Upon the rooftops of one of those many buildings is a man with black hair wearing a black mask in a black jumpsuit with a black cape. He looked out at the city feeling the breeze of the wind “Now then what is it tonight “he said as he placed an earpiece into his ear. He then began to hear the police reports coming from dispatch “All officers we need all available units down 5th Ward Avenue we have a chase of robbers heading that road. We need all units to create a barricade “the earpiece said. “So that’s what’s tonight. Alright then time to go to work “he said as he closed his eyes while taking a deep breath, he reopened his eyes as he jumped off of the building. As he plummeted down toward the ground he quickly pulled out a grappling gun then fired it into the air. The grappling then shot him into the air allowing him to fly into the air he began to fire his grappling into the once again. He swinged through out the city and began to fly through the air. He landed on top of another rooftop kneeling to see the speeding car quickly speeding down the road heading towards the police barricade. He watched the criminal in the passenger seat pulled out a plasma rifle and fired it at the barricade causing it to explode. “Hmph...................cute”he said as he jumped off of the building throwing four shurikens towards all four tires of the car causing it to flip over. He landed on the ground watching them run into the alley. He then began to think back to a time when he was a man with black hair in an white outfit sitting on top of a building putting an ice pack on the bruises on his face. He then began to hear a voice “Cody Magnum it seems that you’re quite the remarkable guy”the voice said as Cody looked up to see Jim Anu. “I take it that you saw that fight I was in. If you thought that was a good fight then you don’t know a good fight”Cody said as he stood back up and walked to the edge of the building. “Oh I know a third year college student with a major in criminal justice. A serious hatred for criminals and a regular in this city’s secret fight club. That flight you were in earlier against those two muggers is proof of that”Jim said. Cody then turned his gaze towards him “Tell me how do you know so much about me”he asked “Well a friend of mine at the University told me about you. I wanted to see it for myself. You really aren’t a fan of criminals are you?”Jim said as he smiled. “Unlike most people I never suffered from some kind of tragedy due to crime. I just see criminals as the weak and I love fighting. So through criminal justice and the fight I’ll dominate both the strong and the weak. That’s why I’m the way I am. I’m not some hero or anything like that, I’m just a guy who thrives off of the will of the battle,”Cody said as smiled. “Yeah that’s exactly what I wanted to see, that dark ego that’s exactly what this city needs. Which is why I decided to give you this” Jim said as he handed him a briefcase. Cody opened it to see his new suit. “You are the dial of this city and you kneel to no one”Jim said. “Dusk,I like that and you’re damn right I don’t”he said as his mind returned to the present. He walked down the alley seeing the criminals trying to escape. “Hey weaklings I hope you weren’t planning on getting away”Dusk said as he began to smile. When the police came running down the alley he saw the two criminals laying on the ground badly wounded. He stood on top of another building later that night feeling the wind blow around him. “Good to see you again old friend”he said as Jim walked up to him and stood next him “Good to see you too I’m glad you’re having fun”he said. “Of course this suit increases my physical abilities by a lot. But I wish there was something big happening tonight”Dusk said as they both began to hear the ground shake from a giant explosion coming from across the city. “Hmph……like you got your wish”Jim said “Yeah”Dusk said as he smiled then used his grappling gun to fly towards the explosion.
