"It's alway nice when authors either ignore tropes or, like here, subvert them. There are so many stories about human women meeting the handsome alpha, but those meetings might not always start out happy. Meeting during an apocalypse that leaves both of them traumatized leads to a very difficult path back, especielly when they are hunted by the people who created the apocalypse."
