Chapter (1)

(The fire)

"Don’t worry Juliana, I will Save you, you will be okay”. Elias whispered in his siter’s ear.

It broke his heart to see her like that, since they were children, they both suffered from a disease that doctors called “incurable”. Because of that, the two of them became Scientist and dedicated their entire life to finding a cure for themselves and other people suffering from this illness. But recently, the illness took a heavy toll on his sister, who was so fragile and gentle.

Elias too began to feel the symptoms affecting him, but he pushed himself to the limit, ignoring his own pain just to finish their research.

Juliana Smiled at him weakly and closed her eyes. He sighed and went to his house to continue his research in his house home lab.

He opened all the lights, wore his coat, his gloves and his protective glasses.

He and his sister made great progress in creating the correct formula for the cure, but there was something missing, they can’t figure out the last step to Complete the formula. They tried chemical substances and process but none of them seemed to work.

After hours of working, he put a drop of a certain chemical in a beaker. It changed color from yellow to orange, he took a sample of the beaker and placed it under the microscope, his heart heavy with doubt, he didn’t have much hope that it would work this time, but he prayed for a miracle. The moment he looked through the lens, his heart sank. The cells were still decaying; there was no change, he pulled away, overwhelmed by Frustration, and whispered to himself ” I Failed…. again!“.

Suddenly, a fire broke out in the lab, Sparked by a fried wire. Flames began to burn the walls, spreading faster than he Could react. Panicked, Elias tried to grab his research papers and the formula he was close to perfecting, but he hesitated, he knew that the burning chemicals were highly toxic and could cause a massive explosion at any second.

“No no n…noo... Cough! Cough!” he Screamed. With the Smoke becoming thick and suffocating, he realized he couldn’t stay. He had to abandon his life’s work to Save himself, stumbling out of the lab just as the air become a deadly cloud of chemicals fumes, he slammed the door shut behind him.

Seconds later, the Sound of muffled explosions echoed from inside, he quickly called the chemical fire department, his head Shaking as he spoke, they arrived and managed to extinguish the flames before the fire could spread to the rest of the house. when he finally Slipped back inside, everything was charred and blackened. He looked at the ruins of his lab with deep sorrow, then walked to his bedroom, his eyes Filling with tears.

He had completely lost all hope, he collapsed onto his bed, staring at the ceiling as the weight of failure crushed him. All those years of Sacrifice, the sleepless nights, and the endless research had vanished in a few minutes. As he closed his eyes, his only thoughts were of the dark end waiting for him and his sister. He fell into a disturbed exhausted sleep, convinced that they had finally run out of time.
