Becoming Emily
Thanks for being here. Seriously.
This one started with a question I couldnโt shake: what happens to the woman who keeps shrinking herself to fit into spaces that were never built for her?
Emily Carver is not a damsel. Sheโs not waiting to be rescued. Sheโs just... stuck. Comfortable in her smallness in the way you get when smallness has been the only thing that felt safe for a long time. And then someone walks into a strip-mall pet store and sees her anyway.
I wanted to write a Cinderella story where the glass slipper was confidence. Where the real transformation wasnโt the wardrobe or the money or the man -- it was a woman finally deciding she was allowed to take up space.
Emily does that. Loudly, eventually. With lipstick and handbags and a business pitch she had no business pulling off as fast as she did.
I hope you love her the way I do.
