Chapter 1
The dark room was stifling, thick with the pungent stench of smoke. In the flickering, dying glow of a candle, the distorted shadows of bottles danced across the table, turning the cramped space into a somber mausoleum.
Slumped against the far wall sat an indistinct figure-a stranger to the light, drowning in the heavy silence of the night. His hollow gaze was fixed intensely on a portrait of a radiant, smiling woman. In a voice thick with intoxication and regret, he whispered to the void:
"I wanted to steal your light,
but in return, I have only
summoned the darkness.
The very wings I yearned to
touch, I am the one who
shattered them!"
The atmosphere in the room suddenly grew heavy in the fading afternoon light. Elena stared at her mother in utter disbelief. She couldn't believe the words she had heard just a few moments ago-that she would be left at her paternal aunt's house.
A wave of desperation broke through Elena's voice as she cried out, "But why, mom? Why are you sending me away? Believe me, I can stay in this house alone, I won't cause any problems."
Elena's mother, Isabella, looked steadily at her daughter. With a look of hardness and reality on her face, she said in a slow but firm voice, "Don't make a joke out of everything, Elena.
Try to understand the situation. Your father and I won't be able to stay home properly for the next year or two. We have to go out of the country for a very urgent business matter."
She paused for a moment and said, "We will have to spend a considerable amount of time away, but what will happen to your studies during this long period? With that concern in mind, we have decided to leave you in the safe care of your paternal aunt. For now, this is the best decision for you."
In a quiet, secluded village in Ether Valley lived a sweet-faced fourteen-year-old girl named Elena Serafina. Standing at a delicate height of 5 feet 3 inches with a slender and petite build, she was a beautifully slim girl. She was the only daughter and the apple of the eye of her father, Luciano Sebastian (who was forty-five years old), and her mother, Isabella Sebastian (who was thirty-nine years old). However, due to business commitments, she had to stay away from her parents. Looking at her father with sorrowful eyes, Elena said in a choked voice, "Honestly dad, how will I stay at my aunt's house for so long without you both?"
Placing his hand on Elena's head with deep affection, Luciano spoke in a reassuring tone, "Try to adjust a little, my dear. Everyone there will love you dearly. And most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to study at an excellent school. I will come to visit you every few months, and sometimes we will all stay there together for a few days."
Feeling a bit heavy-hearted, Elena replied,"Okay,Dad."
Elena was headed to the city of Lyon (France) to stay at the home of her paternal aunt, Adrenia Beatrice (who was 51 years old). Living there were Adrenia's husband, Lorenzo Beatrice (who was 56 years old), his mother Lucia Beatrice (who was 75 years old), and their three children. Besides the middle daughter, Camilla (who was 19 years old) and the youngest son Alonso (who was 15 year old). At twenty-six , Augusta Beatrice was as educated as he was breathtakingly handsome - with an olive skin tone, brown eyes, and reddish brown hair. While standing at a commanding and regal height 6'3". Currently away on family business, Elena had harbored a secret crush on him since childhood.
In the city of Lyon, the Beatrice family possessed wealth and a thriving business. A new chapter of Elena's life was about to begin.
Today, Elena's father left her at her aunt's house in Lyon. It was a massive, regal mansion standing by the riverbank, named 'The Beatrice house'. After dropping Elena off,her father hurried away for urgent work.
As she entered the house, Elena encountered a tense crowd in the drawing room. Her cousin Alonso, was sitting on the sofa with a white bandage wrapped around his leg.
Surrounding him were his parents, sister and grandmother - all with expressions of deep concern etched on their faces.
Elena was shocked and asked, "Alonso, what happened to you? Why is your leg like this?"
Seeing Elena, her aunt felt slightly relieved and said with a smile ,"Oh Elena, you've arrived? That's good."
Elena asked again with concern ,"Yes , Auntie, but how did Alonso get his leg injured like that?"
Aunt Adrenia dismissed it lightly saying , "Oh, it's nothing ; just some mischief that led to a minor injury. Camilla, take Elena with you. Elena, go and get freshened up."
Elena didn't argue further and began walking upstairs toward her room. On her way, she noticed that corridor-the one that had been dark and pitch-black since her childhood. She had heard since she was little that going there was forbidden. Despite her curiosity, she never had the courage to go there. Yet, by a twist of fate, she had to pass that dark corridor every time to reach her room.
Suddenly, a black Bentley pulled up in front of 'The Beatrice House '. A handsome young man stepped out of the car. He was wearing a tight-fitting black full-sleeve T-shirt that clearly accentuated his well-built and muscular physique. He had a hood pulled over his head and face; only his sharp eyes and if a few strands of hair falling over his forehead were visible.
As soon as he entered the room, Lorenzo spoke in a furious tone, "Ronan,What kind of insolence is this? why did you hit Alonso?"
Ronan stopped. In a deep, cold and warning voice, he said, "This is what happens when someone meddles too much with me."
Elena was coming downstairs after freshening up. Overhearing the conversation, she instinctively hid behind the wall and peeked out in fear. Lorenzo asked again,"Why do you carry a gun around like this all the time?"
Ronan replied nonchalantly, "Because I feel like it."
Suddenly, Ronan's sharp gaze fell upon Elena, and she shivered in fear. As Ronan began climbing the stairs,he said to his aunt, "Go, bring some food for me, I'm famished."
Ronan Lourance was only son of Anthony Lourance and Lorenzo Beatrice's younger sister Rozaliya. She had tragically passed away 16 years ago, When ronan was just a vulnerable nine years old boy (She had died at the age 29,and would have been 45 if she were alive today).
At twenty-five, this young man was already a phenomenally successful businessman; standing at a commanding height of 6'2" with a powerfully built physique, his extraordinary, otherworldly beauty and striking handsome features were more than enough to mesmerize anyone who dared to look at him. Though he was unusually cold, grave, and soft-spoken, his sheer presence carried a regal authority.
A few moments later, Elena stepped out from her hiding place to check on the situation. Realizing no one was downstairs, she turned around to head back, only to collide abruptly with a solid, towering chest.
Removing his mask, Ronan looked down at her and questioned,"Little girl, What are you doing sneaking around and watching us?"
Elena stood frozen, staring at Ronan as if under a spell. The man before her looked like the very definition of a dark prince.
To her eyes, the man standing before her was the very definition of a perfect, tall, and enigmatic dark prince stepped straight out of a classic gothic novel. Though his slender build was concealed beneath his tight-fitting cloths as well-structured muscles and distinct 'six pack abs' were subtly evident. His complexion was a striking milky-white with a hint of rosy undertones. A small mole sat on the left side of his lip, adding an irresistible charm to his handsome face. His hair styled in a wispy, layered cut jet black, yet shimmering with deep silver highlights whenever the light caught it.
However, The most mysterious and captivating feature of Ronan was his eyes. In scientific terms, this condition is known as 'Complete Heterochromia'. The iris of one eye possessed a fiery, reddish - crimson hue that currently seemed calm, while the other was as deep as a serene blue ocean.
Such a striking combination of red and blue is practically unheard of, making his gaze incredibly rare and otherworldly. The expensive, stylish black outfit he wore, paired with a luxury, dark silver watch from a premium brand on his wrist, perfectly accentuated his gentlemanly yet dangerous aura.
A sharp yet sweet fragrance of lavender and lemon drifted from his body, a scent capable of mesmerizing anyone instantly.
Under Ronan's intense, towering gaze, Elena stood frozen like a delicate doll.
Looking down at her, Ronan noticed how incredibly petite she was; her head barely reached the center of his broad chest. To him, this sweet, innocent-faced girl looked like a soft, living cotton Barbie doll or a delicate fairy brought to life, completely out of place in his dark, cold world.
She possessed soft chubby cheeks and lips which resembled fresh rose petals, giving her an air of pure innocence. The irises of her eyes were a deep, rich violet, framed by long eyelashes that shimmered with an exquisite blend of gold and red.
Right above them, her perfectly shaped, delicate eyebrows arched elegantly-a rare and breathtaking feature that enhanced her ethereal beauty and made her look incredibly captivating. Her silky voluminous hair-a beautiful mixture of ash and golden tones-cascaded down in long, smooth waves.
As Ronan's sharp, piercing gaze swept down, it lingeringly swept over her entire form, mapping every single detail with dangerous precision. A small, charming mole rested on Elena's right cheek, while another tiny, delicate one adorned the left side of her neck.
She was wearing a lavender strappy sundress, layered with a white cardigan that extended down to her knees. Yet, his watchful eyes did not miss a single thing-not even the hidden mole peeking through the slight opening of her dress on her upper chest.
All in all, Elena did not look like a creature of mere flesh and blood; instead, she appeared as a fragile doll brought to life, completely exposed to the dark, dangerous prince standing right before her.
