Heart warming
"A heart warming story with a great cast of characters, all of who are very individual. There's a nice layer of humour thrown in with the banter between the characters. I'm looking forward to seeing how the relationship between the two MC's continues to develop. #icbc"
A masterclass in character work and earned intimacy
"Unplanned Variables is a joy to read. The real triumph is the character work—the psychological depth behind every reaction, piece of banter, and moment of hesitation shows an author who truly understands human nature. Watching the connection between Damon and Lara develop felt completely authentic. There is a beautiful balance between sharp, playful wit and raw, unguarded vulnerability, making the growing trust between them genuinely compelling. The language flows so naturally that the chapters just disappear beneath you. If you appreciate romance where the emotional stakes are treated with care, maturity, and great craft, do yourself a favor and dive in. Highly recommended! #ICBC"
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 5(Note: I’m just a few chapters away from the ending, but I love it so much I had to write this now!)
"There are romance novels that shout their love stories from the rooftops with grand gestures and candlelit dinners. And then there are books like The Unplanned Variables—books that whisper, letting the love build so naturally in the quiet spaces between characters that it completely catches you off guard. From the moment Lara, a sharp, quick-witted girl from Singapore, meets Damon, a brilliant but heavily scarred military man known as "The Ghost," on a plane, their chemistry is undeniable. But what makes this story so captivating isn't just their immediate attraction; it is the sheer joy of watching them interact. The humor and sharp banter between all the characters create a beautiful sense of closeness that makes you feel like you are part of their circle at the army base. Lara is a breath of fresh air. She is playful, strict when she needs to be, and fiercely independent, yet she knows exactly how to wrap Damon in warmth, showing her love through home-cooked meals and intuitive care. Damon carries deep, hidden past traumas, but Lara sees right through his "Ghost" exterior. The absolute magic of Dara’s writing lies in the micro-moments. It’s in the stolen glances, the slight touches, and the silent understanding between two vulnerable people. The moment that permanently hooked me was a simple scene involving a shoulder ointment. No planned parties, no dramatic speeches—just a quiet, raw realization from Damon that he is experiencing a love he never thought he was allowed to have, leading to an unplanned, perfectly timed "I love you." If you are tired of manufactured romance drama and crave a story rooted in genuine connection, humor, and emotional depth, this book hits entirely different. It is a stunning reminder that the most profound love stories are found in the most ordinary, quiet moments."
I'm loving it
"I’m still reading, but I’m really enjoying this story so far. Damon and Lara have such natural chemistry, and I love how their relationship keeps developing through the flirting, humor, and the more vulnerable moments between them. The banter is one of my favorite parts, especially with the rest of the gang constantly making things even more entertaining. I also really like what Lara brings out in Damon and how much softer and more open he’s becoming around her. It’s funny, sweet, and easy to get invested in, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where their relationship goes."
Fun Banter, Great Chemistry, and a Promising Slow Burn
"I’m really enjoying Unplanned Variables so far! The group dynamic immediately stood out to me, the banter between the guys feels natural and gives each character personality without taking away from the developing romance. Lara is easy to like, and I especially enjoy the way the attraction is building between her and Damon through small looks, awkward moments, and plenty of teasing from everyone around them. It feels like we're getting the beginning of a genuine slow burn rather than an instant romance. There are also little hints that there’s more happening beneath the surface, especially with the mentions of Ghost, which have definitely made me curious. The combination of humor, friendship, military life, travel, and budding romance has made this a fun read so far. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when they finally reach Singapore!"
Can't wait to read More
"This is a good story, read 2 chapters so far and I'm hooked. It's charming, heartwarming, and funny. Can't wait to read more! #ICBC"
Fun to read
"I love reading books featuring cultures/backgrounds different from mine. I’ve never read a book with this setting and I love how Tamil is sprinkled in. The main characters fall for each other pretty quickly and engage in lots of banter. Sometimes the number of characters can be hard to keep up with, especially the MMC’s friends/coworkers. But I like the chemistry between them. I’m looking forward to how the plot develops and how the main couple overcome tensions. "
Banter Heaven
"I absolutely love banter and comedy in stuff I read, and this one delivers it all to me in every chapter. Damon and Lara are cute and I love their dynamics. I bet they are going to be a power couple. Can't wait to read more!"
Cliff Hanger
"I was wondering when the plot twist would occur. I am very curious about what comes next. "
I'm sorry but I like AJ more
"Found your story on r/Inkitt. I am glad I stopped by for a read. I will continue reading when you post because I love the real world slant. The writing has real depth of character and feels like it is written from a point of lived experience authority. My only problem is Damon is a snoozer, and AJ, Tex, and even James have more personality. I feel like that is supposed to be the thing with him, but his entourage is funnier and more likable at this point."
