Summary

This story has been a journey of the heart for me to write. It follows Jade, a young woman who has spent a decade trapped in "survival mode" following a childhood tragedy that shattered her world. It is a tribute to everyone who has ever had to simply survive before they could truly learn how to live. Writing a character like Jade, who navigates the world through silence and sign language due to trauma-induced mutism, was deeply important to me. This is a story about finding your voice again—not just through words, but through the safety and trust of a "chosen family" known as The Village. In these pages, you will meet Max, the "Knight" who helps Jade build a Fortress to keep the monsters at bay. Their story is one of romantic suspense, blending high-stakes danger with the quiet, domestic healing of finding a real home. A Note on Content: Because this story deals with the reality of trauma, it is intended for mature audiences (18+). It contains depictions and mentions of: Childhood tragedy and domestic violence Physical and sexual abuse Self-harm Trauma-induced mutism and hospital stays Imprisonment Please read with care and prioritize your mental health. Thank you for joining our "Village" and helping us build this Fortress. 🛡️🗡️

Chapter 1 - A Perfect Dream

I wake up to the sun streaming through my windows. I follow the smell of pancakes to the kitchen, where I see my dad cooking. I walk over to him and give him a tight hug.

“Good morning Sweetie. How did you sleep?” Dad asks me.

“I slept good daddy.” I say to him and he smiles.

“Your brother and mum are in the lounge watching some cartoons. Why don’t you go and join them while I finish cooking breakfast?” Dad asks. I nod my head and walk through to the lounge.

I see my mum sitting on the couch while my brother Jayden is laying on the floor watching the cartoon on the TV. I sit beside mum and snuggle into the side of her. She wraps her arm around my shoulders and gives me a squeeze.

“So, would you two like to go to the beach today?” Mum asks my brother and I. We both look at her with big smiles and nodding our heads. She laughs. I love the sound of mummy’s laughter.

When the next ad break comes on Dad walks in and tells us that breakfast is on the table. We all go and sit at the table. There are pancakes sitting on all of our plates, they are my favourite. When we have finished eating them Jayden and I clear the table and put the dishes in the dishwasher. We both go into our rooms to get our swimming clothes and toys for at the beach.

When we arrive at the beach Jayden and I grab our toys and run onto the sand, we find a spot on the sand and start making sandcastles. We make a big one with a circle around it so that the water can go around it. Jayden gets our buckets and runs to the water and fills them up, and then puts the water in our circle. I found some shells on the sand and decorated the sandcastle. When we have finished we show mum and dad what we have done together. They both smile, mum pulls out her phone and takes a photo of Jayden and I next to our sandcastle.

“Would you two like to go for a swim?” Dad asks. We nod our heads, grab our swimming clothes and go to the changing room. When we are both changed we run back over to our parents.

“Well off you go. Just remember not to be too deep and make sure that you can still see us.” Mum says.

We agreed and ran to the water. I put my foot in and feel that it is nice and cold. I go in a bit further and see that Jayden is standing at the edge. I kick my foot through the water and splash him. I laugh when I see his face. He starts laughing and joins me in the water. We start splashing each other and laughing.

After a while of playing in the water Dad calls us back.

“How about we go and pick up some snack food and some movies then go home and watch them?” Mum asks.

Jayden and I nod our heads then go to the changing rooms to get out of our wet clothing. Once we were dressed in nice dry clothing we met our parents outside the changing rooms. Once we arrived home, we put the snacks on the little table in the living room and put on the first movie which is Aladdin, my favourite.

I am feeling a bit tired because of our outing to the beach. I am cuddled up between mum and dad like I normally am when we watch a movie as a family. I feel my eyes getting heavy. I fall asleep with a smile on my face and my heart full of love.

My Blacksmith Savior
