BIRTH

In a very vast waste land, a portion of the soil starts to bubble with thick white smoke.

Suddenly from the smoke a struggling arm and legs starts to ascend, slowly the smoke clears revealing an all gray human like figure. It was in a state of panic, frantically looking in all directions.

"Where am i?" he asked himself totally confused and feeling ill. To all his side was the emptiness and foggy atmosphere. He had walked a couple of steps before realizing he was barefooted. The ground was sandy with dark warm sand. He noticed his skin was also dark grayish and  oddly he was naked. Still trying to make sense of the situation he suddenly heard a terrifying animalistic roar from far away. Instinctively he squats down trying to blend  with the fog and hide. Resting his knees and palms on the sand he noticed the ground was slightly vibrating. As he tried focusing on the sand to observe it closely he noticed the area of his reproductive organ was plain. Alarmed and terrified he  jumped up straight to get a better look at his lower waist then suddenly the whole environment changed.

A strong wind blew from his left distorting  the calmness of the fog. The intensity of the ground vibration became stronger and he heard what seemed like a loud noise of approaching herd of wild beast coming from his back. Fear and panic gripped him as he staggered and began running away from the noise. The fear got stronger when the noise and a cloud of dust rushed towards him. As he ran he began to see other gray skinned people running by his left and right.

Without looking back he realized he was running alongside a massive crowd of gray skin people like him. He thought of stopping but he feared a stampede. He also observed the running figures around him and noticed they all looked alike, same statue, same height and naked gray bodies. Somewhere behind him he could hear the terrifying animal roar in a deafening level which caused a cry of terror all round him.

After almost stumbling about three times he noticed they had run into a rougher terrain where the ground was not levelled. There were small pockets of heaped sand, big erosion gaps and small size pits all over. Some grays fell in a pit in front of him and when he tried jumping over them the strength in his legs failed him making him land at the edge of the pit. His palms and kneels dug into the hot black sand  which he felt was hot enough to cook a meal.

He was still struggling to get to his feet before more grays starts a stampede over him when suddenly he felt a heavy bang on his back, sending him forcefully back into the sand. The intensity of the hotness was more beneath the surface of the sand which began suffocating him. Painfully he managed to push himself out of the burning sand, spat out the bitter black sand from his mouth and cleaned off his sand covered face. While resting on his back he could see many running gray people, some jumping above the pit while others simply ran by the side avoiding the pit.

Two gray bodies came flying in awkward upside down position towards him and crashing hard into some other gray people  that fell into the pit. Just as he finally got out of the pit he heard the terrifying animal roar behind him and as he turned back to look, fear and terror gripped him to a paralyzing state at what he saw.

In front of him just before the edge of the pit was a thirteen foot humanoid like creature. It was muscular in body structure and had rock-like scales attached to its skin, fire seemed to be emanating from within its body. Its head was spiked with sharp bony horns all over and just beneath its pitch black eyes was a big wide mouth filled with dagger sharp teeth. It carried a massive club carved out of rock that it used swinging from left to right knocking off the ground some of the running gray people. The creature caught one of the gray persons, raised him off the ground with one hand and sank its sharp teeth into his neck, biting hard and shaking him violently like when a dog does after biting hard on a prey. Throwing the bitten gray person to the ground the strange creature opened its wide mouth displaying all its powerful sharp teeth and made the terrifying roaring sound again.

Motionless and still in a state of shock and confusion he was suddenly jolted back to his senses when another gray person grabbed him by his arm.

"Please help me" it pleaded with fear and despair in its voice.

More grays started falling into the pit and he knew he had to start moving. He slowly got to his feet again and resumed running. Not knowing where he was running to but he knew he had to get as far as possible from the sharp toothed monster. As he ran he noticed his pace was a lot slower than his regular speed when running. He wasn't a daily sport man but he knew his athletic ability, something was wrong with his legs. While some of the gray people ran really fast, zooming past him as if he wasn't putting in any effort to run. He also ran past others that seemed to be jogging or walking without any urgency. The terrifying monster sound started coming from all directions and he realized that there were more of them around. He came to a stop as he met a congestion of gray people and could not move any further. He heard someone say "This way, the tunnels are up ahead" then some of them started running to one direction. He followed them and just tagged along. The group happened to be way faster than him and he knew there was no way he could keep up but he kept his eyes focused on the back of the odd group in the crowd as they were the only grays running towards a different direction. At a point he finally could not differentiate between all the grays running in all directions in front of him anymore but he just continued with the same direction when suddenly he came in front of a massive ant hill kind structure.
