Chapter

In every place, in every group, there’s always that one person who goes unnoticed… someone nobody really sees or pays attention to. A person who can stand in a crowd and still feel invisible.

And that’s me.

Till today, no one has truly noticed me. Sometimes it even feels like people don’t know whether I exist or not. It’s not like I tried to disappear or hide myself from the world… it just happened slowly, quietly, until it became a part of who I am. According to everyone around me, I’m just a “perfect introvert.” The quiet one. The one who doesn’t talk much. The one who stays in their own space and never really connects.

But the truth is something else.

“I don’t like interacting with people.”

That’s what I would say if anyone ever asked me.

But no one ever did.

Maybe they assumed the answer already. Maybe they never cared enough to ask. Or maybe I became so used to silence that people thought I preferred it that way. Either way, I learned to live without expecting anyone to notice me. Days passed in the same routine—study, work, sleep, repeat. Life was calm, smooth, and predictable.

But it also felt empty.

There were no sudden changes, no meaningful conversations, no one waiting for me, and no one I was waiting for. It wasn’t painful enough to complain about, but it wasn’t fulfilling either. It was just… a life moving forward without any real feeling attached to it.

And then, one day, something unexpected happened.

I was managing my studies along with a part-time job. It was just another normal day at work—nothing special, nothing different. In the middle of it, my phone buzzed. I casually checked it, expecting nothing important.

It was a message.

Just one word:

“Hi.”

A simple word. Something so small, something people send without even thinking. But sometimes, the smallest things carry the biggest changes.

I stared at the screen for a few seconds, unsure of what to do. Should I reply? Should I ignore it? Overthinking something as simple as a “hi” felt strange, but that’s how unfamiliar I was with situations like this.

In the end, I replied.

I didn’t want to come off as rude.

She introduced herself. The way she spoke was simple and genuine—no attitude, no unnecessary effort, just natural. I didn’t say much about myself. Maybe because I wasn’t used to opening up, or maybe because somewhere deep inside, I felt like she already knew me.

Since I was at work, I couldn’t continue the conversation much. So I told her I’d message later.

And she understood.

That small act of understanding… it stayed with me.

And just like that, without any warning, she slowly walked into my life.

At first, it was just small conversations. Casual messages. Nothing serious. But as days passed, those conversations became something more. Something I started looking forward to. Something that quietly became a part of my routine.

There was a comfort in talking to her that I had never experienced before.

For the first time, conversations didn’t feel forced. I didn’t feel like I had to think too much before replying. It all felt natural… easy.

And then I started noticing something.

Whenever she said “good night” and left, there was this sudden emptiness. The silence that followed felt heavier than usual. I found myself staring at the screen, wishing the conversation hadn’t ended so soon.

I missed her.

But I never told her that.

Because I was afraid.

Afraid that if I said too much, things might change. Afraid that if she didn’t feel the same, I might lose even what I had. So I stayed quiet, keeping everything to myself, just like I always did.

Days turned into weeks.

Messages turned into long conversations.

Conversations turned into calls.

And without even realizing it, she became a part of my everyday life… like she had always been there.

Then one day, she said something that made my heart race.

“Let’s meet.”

For someone like me, that was terrifying.

Meeting new people was already difficult. But meeting someone who had become so important to me… that felt overwhelming. I overthought everything—what to say, how to act, whether it would be awkward, whether I would disappoint her.

But when the moment finally came… everything changed.

The nervousness, the fear, the overthinking—it all slowly disappeared.

She made it easy.

She made it feel normal.

It didn’t feel like we were meeting for the first time. There was no awkward silence, no pressure to impress. It felt comfortable… like being with someone who already knew me.

And for the first time in my life…

I didn’t feel invisible.

With her, I felt seen.

I felt understood.

I felt like I mattered.

I never confessed my feelings to her. I never said those words out loud. But somehow, she understood me anyway. The way she spoke, the way she reacted… it felt like she could read the emotions I couldn’t express.

No one has ever understood me the way she does.

In everyone’s life, there’s always a silent wish—to have someone who truly knows you. Someone who understands you without needing explanations. Someone who notices you, even when the whole world doesn’t.

I had that wish too.

Even if I never admitted it.

And somehow… I found her.

She’s not just someone who entered my life.

She’s the one who changed it.

She made me feel like I exist.

Like I’m not just another face in the crowd.

Like I’m someone worth noticing.

She’s like a rare diamond in my life…

And she’s someone I never want to lose
