Chapter 1
Chapter one
So first to start off, my name is Luna Moon. It is a lot, but thats what you get when your mother thinks I is a mystical, moon child just because i was born under a blue moon. Just to let you know i’m not, im just a regular junior at a normal college, who has the worst taste in boys. I probably could write a whole book on how not to date. And that is why im here right now, i decided i had enough heartbreaks to last a lifetime, and after a particularly good session of watching all the movies in the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before session i decided to let go of all my emotions, so i wrote letters, just like lara jean did, but with a twist. Tonight was different tonight i was burning them, because writing the letters werent good enough. It was a full moon tonight so i pulled on my sweats and walked outside, even though my parents dont care about me, i still was extra quiet. As i watched the letters turn to ash i turned away to go inside, feeling more powerful and calm as i had in weeks, i saw him. A guy standing right there in my backyard, i blinked, was i imagining things?
“Who are you?” I asked, because it is late and this is one hundred percent a hallucination.
The guy smiled like that appearing in someones back yard happens each day,
“I’m Kai.”
“Great, Kai,” i said trying to sound calm, “why are you here?”
“Because of the letters,” he said like it was obvious, “you summoned me.”
“What? Is this a prank, seriously is it?”
Before he could answer another guy popped out from behind a tree and this one had wild curly hair and a smile that was a lot.
“What the heck is going on?” I said trying not to shout
“Ignore him,” the new guy said. “We’re not here to cause anything. We just need you.”
“Why would you need me of all people?” I asked, this had to be a prank.
But before either of them could answer, everything changed. The air grew heavy, and i felt this weird pressure in my chest, it felt like i was being pulled into something. My feet didnt want to move, like they were glued to the ground.
“Luna, wait!” Kai shouted, but his voice sounded distant. Like i was underwater.
And then, just as soon as the pressure came, everything went white. Like everything around me suddenly turned into a blank sheet of paper.
I had no idea what was happening. But i was soon to find out. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe. Everything was just a white, blinding, suffocating light that made my whole body feel like it was vibrating.
The, pop. It was like someone flipped a switch. I was in my backyard again except it isn’t my backyard.
the grass was greener, the trees taller than i’ve ever seen them, and there was a giant glowing thing hovering above me, it was almost like a ball of light, but it wasn’t a firefly. It was way too big for that. I turned around to ask someone what was going on, but the only two people there was the guys, Kai and the other guy with the curls.
“Okay guys this is too much for me,” i muttered. My legs felt shaky and it felt like i could breathe and i was about to cry.
“What…is this?” I asked, as i tried to pulled myself together.
The curly-haired guy stepped close to me, his smile still not fading,
“its a little bit of the world you dont know about. Welcome to the real world, luna.”
Kai was standing behind him, looking more serious than the curly haired guy.
“You need to listen. What you did, burning those letters, triggered something. Something big.”
I stared at them.
“Triggered? Triggered what?”
“The gods, the greek gods,” kai said, his eyes glowing a little. “You’re not just some normal girl, luna. You’re a goddess.”
I blinked.
“A demigod? Like one of my parents could be, Hera or Aphroydite or Zeus or Poseidon? You sound like my mother, i am nowhere close to goddess level.”
he shook his head and opened his mouth like he was about to say something, but then the curly-haired guy jumped in.
“She’s not just any goddess,” he said lowering his voice, “she’s the goddess.”
The one? My brain was already so confused. Now this random guy who i don’t know is adding this.
“i dont know what your talking about, im not a goddess. You got the wrong girl, can i go home now.”
Kai took a step closer, his eyes meeting mine.
“You’re Luna Moon. You were hidden away. Your memories were erased. Your powers are sealed to protect you.”
My heart was racing. This couldn’t be happening.
“You’re saying im some child of a god and goddess? Because that sounds insane. And impossible. This prank can be done now. Haha you got be.”
“I know this is a lot, i get it i do,” kai said, his tone softening. “But you’re about to remember everything. The truth about who you were before you were hidden.”
At that moment, i felt a sudden zing through my body. A rush of energy shot up from the ground and into me, and i gasped. It felt like being struck by lightning, but in slow motion, and then it was inside me. I felt like i would explode at any second.
When i looked down my hands were glowing. Glowing
“What is wrong with me?” I said my voice barely over a whisper.
But before i could do anything, the ground started to shake. I heard a deep growl, followed by a thundering loud noise. Something was coming. Something huge.
a massive shadow appeared in the distance. It was a creature that looked like it was made of smoke and shadows it was getting closer, and it did not look friendly.
“Well, this is not a prank.” I muttered, as the creature got closer, its glowing red eyes locking onto me.
Kai and the curly haired guy stepped in front of me, holding their gleaming weapons like that were ready to fight.
“Stay behind us,” kai said.
“Oh, yeah, sure,” i said, barely able to keep my voice from shaking. “I’ll just hide while you fight whatever that is.”
“Great, you understand the plan.” The curly haired guy said with a grin.
I wanted to argue but it wasnt the time. The creature was practicall right in front of us now, and it was huge, a giant made of smoke and shadows. I could feel its presence pressing down on me like a huge weight. It smell wrong, like sulfur and burning.
i was about to say something sarcastic when the creature roared, sending a blast of wind that knocked us all over our feet. I hit the ground with a thud, but somehow, i didn’t feel like i was about to die.
instead, i felt something else. A surge of power inside me.
I knew what to do
