A Day in the Life of a Megalomaniac

"This is a unique story to say the least, as the plot rests entirely on the manner in which it is told. Indeed, this story is all character--the gusto, bluster, and pompous diction of the narrator, who prepares to take over the world but scarcely gets out the door. Boasting highly unusual syntax and a lexicon lifted from a vomiting thesaurus, the narrator is obviously highly impressed with himself--as any megalomaniac should be!--and the humor comes from his inability to really do anything in the story. I think this is a great beginning, and I could see this leading someplace else, or even to a more comic denouement for our evil mastermind. Right now ,it seems to end a bit too abruptly, and I wonder if the narrator is a little too impressed with his wordplay--or the author is too indulgent with his creation. I admit to getting a little lost toward the end, and it might be interesting to have a 'normal' narrator take us through his story as he interjects with his verbose monologues. That said, it remains a unique, funny little gem, and a great insight into the mind of a would-be Alexander the Great."
