TWILIGHT POV
The gates of Nocturna Academy towered above me like something dragged out of an old nightmare.
Black iron twisted into strange symbols I couldn’t read. Beyond them stood a massive castle-like campus surrounded by silver mist, its pointed towers slicing into the gray sky. The air itself felt… wrong. Too still. Too heavy.
I stared at it for a long moment before muttering under my breath.
“Perfect.”
Not the happy kind.
Behind me, my parents stood in uncomfortable silence.
My mother adjusted the sleeve of her coat for the tenth time, avoiding my eyes. My father stood stiffly beside her, arms folded like this was any normal school drop-off and not whatever this was.
I turned sharply.
“So we’re really doing this?”
“Twilight—” my mother began softly.
“No,” I snapped. “You don’t get to say my name like everything is fine.”
Neither of them answered.
Of course.
Because for the past week, silence had become their favorite language.
One Week Earlier
I was halfway through breakfast when my father said the sentence that ruined my life.
“You’re transferring schools.”
I nearly choked on my toast.
“I’m sorry, what?”
My mother wouldn’t look at me.
“To Nocturna Academy,” he continued.
I laughed.
Actually laughed.
Then I realized no one else was laughing.
“You cannot be serious.”
“It’s for your safety,” my mother whispered.
“From what?”
Silence.
Again.
That was the first moment I knew something was deeply wrong.
Because my parents had always been strange.
Ancient books locked in rooms I wasn’t allowed to enter.
Symbols carved beneath furniture.
Late-night whispers.
Warnings about places I’d never heard of.
Stories about creatures everyone else called myths.
I knew supernaturals existed.
Everyone did.
But they were distant things. Paranormals. Urban legends wrapped in old history.
They weren’t supposed to have anything to do with me.
Yet now my parents wanted to send me to a school full of them.
And they refused to tell me why.
The chapters will be longer soon just cope with me 😭😭
