Summary

. Alex Hawthorne thought the worst thing that could happen at work was humiliation. He was wrong. One spilled glass of water puts him in the path of Takashi Yamamoto, a man whispered about in fear, a yakuza boss known for cruelty and absolute control. Catching the eye of a mafia king was the worst he could think of, not when Takashi wants him. Running only makes it worse. Dragged back into Takashi’s world, Alex learns the truth: the debt he owes isn’t his, it’s inherited. His mother fled Japan years ago, breaking a promise that tied two powerful clans together. Now Takashi has come to collect. The price isn’t money. It’s marriage. Alex refuses. He has a girlfriend. He isn’t gay. He won’t belong to a monster. But Takashi never takes no for an answer, and when Alex attempts to escape, he discovers even freedom can be an illusion. As lies unravel and enemies close in, Alex is forced to question everything he believes: his family, his past, and the man he’s supposed to hate. Because the most dangerous thing about Takashi Yamamoto isn’t his violence. It’s the way he makes Alex feel.
