Not Your Average Romance Story!

"I don't often read novels that linger in my mind long after I've put them down, but The Mountain did exactly that. It's a beautifully restrained story that trusts the reader, allowing emotion to emerge through small moments rather than dramatic twists. The characters feel like real people, full of contradictions, and their relationships develop with a level of honesty that's increasingly rare. I love that they aren't heroes or villains. They're just people. The prose is understated but precise, and the dialogue feels completely natural. Rather than spelling everything out, the novel leaves space for the reader to sit with uncertainty, which makes the emotional payoff all the more powerful. I'd recommend it to readers who enjoy literary fiction that prioritises character over plot and who appreciate authors like Sally Rooney or Elizabeth Strout. It's a thoughtful, quietly affecting novel that rewards patience and close attention."
