The Awakening Soul

Summary

Hannah has spent eight years running. Running toward success. Running away from herself. Running so fast that she forgot what it felt like to simply stand still and breathe. She chased promotions like they were salvation. She climbed ladders that had no top. She became smaller and smaller to fit into spaces carved out by people who never truly valued her. And somewhere in that relentless pursuit, she lost something essential. Something that made her feel alive. But awakening comes in unexpected moments. Sometimes at a metro station, watching strangers rush past. Sometimes in the betrayal of those closest to you. Sometimes in the quiet realisation that the life you built was never actually yours to begin with. What happens when you finally stop running? What happens when you step away from everything you thought you wanted and discover what you actually need? There is a journey that begins with a single decision. A journey toward a quieter life, toward authentic connection, toward understanding what it truly means to live rather than merely exist. A journey where you encounter not just new places, but new versions of yourself. Where you meet people who understand the weight of carrying a broken heart. Where love arrives when you least expect it, in forms you never anticipated. But awakening is never simple. The soul does not resurface without resistance. Without confrontation. Without learning to trust again when trust has been shattered. This is a story about that sacred, terrifying, beautiful journey. *Sometimes you have to lose everything to find yourself. Sometimes you have to stop running to finally arrive.*

Chapter 1

My body felt heavy in a way that was almost peaceful. Not the exhaustion of deadlines and relentless ambition, but something gentler, softer. I had spent the entire night awake with Katie and Kylie, our voices tangled together in laughter and confession, the kind of conversation that leaves you drained yet somehow replenished. Now, sitting in the Dubai metro station, I finally had permission to simply exist.

But the moment I descended into the station, the temperature shifted. The scorching heat of the streets above gave way to artificial cold, and I found myself shivering despite the warmth I had just escaped. Around me, the station thrummed with relentless energy. Announcements crackled overhead in Arabic, then English, their voices overlapping and competing for attention. Metal doors screeched open with mechanical urgency, and people surged forward in waves, clutching lunch bags and leather briefcases, their movements sharp and purposeful. There was no leisurely stroll here. They ran. They pushed. They moved as though some invisible force propelled them toward something desperately important.

I watched this unfold with a strange detachment. The doors opened. The crowd rushed. The doors closed. Silence for a moment. Then it began again.

And somewhere in that repetition, something crystallised inside me.

Was this it? Was this what living was supposed to feel like?

Eight years of chasing success. Two years of losing herself. One moment that changed everything.
