Chapter 1
[Age intro:
Tae - 9 years old,
Kook - 8 years old,
Jimin - 9 years old,
Jin - 12 years old.]
Tae's POV:
As I stepped into the huge mansion my dad bought two weeks ago, the first thought that crossed my mind was,
'Is this where we are going to live now?'
I slowly walked inside, my shoes making 'tap... tap...' sounds on the shiny floor.
Everything was so big.
The ceiling was so high that I had to lift my head all the way back to see it.
The mansion felt quiet.
Too quiet.
Even my footsteps echoed across the halls.
As I walked towards the stairs, I heard another pair of footsteps behind me. It's definitely not my footsteps echoes.
I froze.
Then --
'Creek...'
I held my breath.
Slowly, the door began to open.
'Creek... Creek...'
Then again --
BOOM!
"AARHHH"
I screamed so loud that my voice echoed through the entire house.
My brother jumped out from behind the door, already laughing at my reaction. He grabbed his stomach and laughed much harder like scaring me was the funniest thing in the entire world.
"I never knew you'd be scared like this..." he said teasingly, still laughing his lungs out at my face.
"I hate you, Jin hyung!" I shouted, but my voice was still shaking.
Just then, the front door swung open. Mom and Dad entered, still in conversation with a man who looked very official.
And suddenly three pairs of eyes landed on us.
"What is happening here?" Mom asked, looking between me and Jin hyung.
"Umm... nothing, Mom. He just slipped." Jin hyung said, putting on an innocent face like he did nothing wrong.
"I did not slip. Jin hyung scared me." I pointed at him.
"Jin?" Mom said sharply.
"It was just a joke." Jin hyung said, looking down at his shoes.
I laughed to myself.
My dad pressed his lips together as if holding his laugh back just like me.
He turned back to the official and cleared his throat.
"Sorry about that..." Dad said to that official man. They all three started to speak again, but I couldn't hear anything.
My dad and mom signed some papers and handed it to the man.
I didn't care.
The stairs to upstairs looked more curious than the contracts they are signing.
I started walking towards the stairs again.
As I walked along the corridor, I found a big door. It was already open, so I don't need to open it.
It was a library, and a piano in the centre. This library was bigger than my classroom.
I ran back to Jin hyung.
He loves piano.
He had to see this.
"Jin hyung...!" I called out his name.
I ran towards the front door, and spotted him in the front garden.
"Jin hyung...." I called out again while running towards him.
"Yes, Tae-Tae? Why are you running?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Come," I said simply without telling him why, pulling him by his sleeves all the way up to the library.
Once inside, he froze.
Just starred at the piano infront of him.
He slowly walked towards it, and sat down on the chair infront of the piano.
But he suddenly stood up and ran downstairs, I was confused.
Why did he run without playing the piano?
I ran behind him.
"Dad... Mom..." Jin hyung called out, they were still talking with that official.
He stopped infront of them, and I stood beside him as well.
"Is that piano ours?" He asked, breathing heavily from running.
"Yes, Jin... That piano is ours." Dad said, his voice is calm like always.
Jin hyung's face light up and immediately ran back to the library in a rocket speed.
I ran back too.
Because why would I stay in a place where I definitely will not understand what my parents and the official was speaking?
"Jin hyung... Wait! I'm coming too..." I shouted behind him as I ran faster to catch him up.
He entered the library and started to play the piano.
He played every notes he learnt in his piano classes.
I just listened.
If I interrupt him, I'm getting a hit on my head for sure.
He completely forgot that I was also there.
Should I call him?
No.
I silently left the library and he still continued playing his new piano.
I looked down at the hall from the stairs, my parents were still speaking with that official man.
I have more time to see this new mansion.
I walked along the corridor again, the wall was full of old paintings getting removed by the workers.
They were taking them carefully to the downstairs.
And... I saw a room.
Small.
Atleast one room in this mansion was small.
I wanted to take this as my room.
I stepped in.
It was totally my vibe.
Like it was built for me.
It was nothing like my old room where we lived before.
There's a window, too.
I had to stand on a chair to look outside the window.
The view I got was... the front of the mansion from my room. A waterfall in the centre of the entrance and the wide front garden.
There's a house too, much smaller than the mansion, but definitely not poor.
I can see a figure in that house, but I couldn't see them clearly.
Is someone there?
Who was it?
Is that a kid too...?
