Author’s Note: This story is written more like a novel than a typical short-chapter serial, so chapters will usually be around 5,000+ words and more book-ish in structure rather than very short Wattpad-style updates.
Content Note: The prologue includes themes of poverty, survival, homelessness, and implied child neglect/abuse. Nothing is described graphically, but the atmosphere may still feel heavy. These themes are mainly part of the prologue’s background context and will not be a constant focus afterward. If you would rather avoid this content, you can begin with Chapter 1 instead.
Also, Tyler’s identity and presentation are intentionally complex. At the beginning of the story, the narration uses he/him because this is how Tyler lives, presents, and survives. As the story unfolds, the narration will shift to she/her for literary and stylistic reasons connected to Tyler’s character arc. This shift is intentional and part of the story’s structure, not an inconsistency.
If changing pronouns or complicated identity/presentation themes are not something you are comfortable reading, this story may not be the right fit for you.
