Chapter 1

The sory begins with theThe story opens with our stunning female lead buried under a mountain of blankets. Despite being hopelessly late for college, she remains blissfully "in love" with her bed. Her mother’s scolding echoes through the house, but it’s only when her mother marches in, flings open the curtains to let the piercing sunlight hit her face, and clicks off the fan that the discomfort finally wins. Stretching her limbs with a long yawn, her natural beauty shines even in her messy, post-sleep state. Realising the time, she transforms into a whirlwind—scrambling to get ready and dashing out the door without a bite of breakfast. With a quick "Bye Mom!" and a hurried kiss for her Dad, she shouts over her shoulder that she’ll be late due to college projects before sprint-running to catch the bus.

Meanwhile, our male lead has been awake since dawn, his calm aura as bright as the morning sun. After preparing a warm breakfast for his grandmother, he heads out to work in the fields. His home sits near a narrow, mist-covered river and a quiet homestay; the locals whisper that the deep waters hide dangerous animals, adding a layer of mystery to his quiet life. He is the picture of discipline—steadfast and grounded.

The fate of this cheerful, educated city girl and the hardworking village boy finally collides. As she sprints toward the bus stop, she accidentally crashes right into him while he is busy selling his fresh harvest to a local shopkeeper. Breathless and frantic, she barely manages an "I'm sorry, I'm getting late!!" before disappearing into the distance. She never even looked at his face, leaving him standing there with the words "It's okay" still silent on his lips...

Back at the college, a new dynamic unfolds. A handsome Second Male Lead has become fixated on our heroine. Interestingly, it isn't her charm that caught his eye, but her unapologetically messy style and her fearless, sharp voice that never backs down from a challenge. While she is fully aware of his interest and even harbors a secret crush on him, she keeps her feelings guarded behind a wall of indifference. However, the Second Male Lead hides a darker, cruel side; he is a notorious playboy, though his games are starting to fail as he develops genuine, terrifyingly real feelings for her.

Miles away in the quiet village, our Male Lead returns from his long day in town. As he goes to change out of his dusty shirt, his fingers brush against something small caught in the fabric—a girl’s hair clip. A faint smile touches his lips as he recalls the chaotic girl who crashed into him earlier. Instead of throwing it away, he tucks the clip safely into his drawer, a tiny souvenir of their collision.

He then goes to find his grandmother, only to find her deep in conversation with the Village Leader’s daughter. His grandmother is playfully yet persistently nudging the young woman to consider marrying her grandson. Little does she know, the girl’s heart already belongs to someone else, setting the stage for a complicated web of secrets and unrequited love..

Scene 1: The Weight of the Past

Location: Ji-ho’s House – Night

After a long day in the fields, Ji-ho sets the table with quiet, practiced movements. He calls his grandmother, and they sit in a silence heavy with unspoken thoughts. Before she even takes a bite, she sighs, her eyes full of worry.

"Ji-ho," she begins softly, "Find a good girl and marry her. I’m getting old, and I don't know how many days I have left. I’ll speak to the Village Leader; his daughter would be a perfect match for you."

Ji-ho’s spoon clatters against the bowl. "Marriage, marriage, marriage! I’m fed up with this, Grandma. Please, just leave it be. I won’t even consider marriage until I know the truth about what happened to my parents."

His grandmother’s face pales. "I told you long ago to leave that in the past. Why are you still clinging to it? You need to move forward."

Ji-ho looks her directly in the eye, his voice low and steady. "Then tell me, Grandma. Tell me exactly what happened to them."

She looks away, her lips trembling. "Ji-ho..."

"I knew you wouldn't say it," he says, standing up. "Fine. I’ll find out myself. Until then, don't talk to me about my future." He leaves his dinner untouched, the room feeling colder as he retreats into the shadows of his bedroom.

Scene 2: The Art of Deflection

Location: Yuna’s House – Night

Across the city, the mood is chaotic. Yuna is propped up against her headboard, surrounded by a fortress of snack bags, her eyes glued to a movie. The door swings open—her parents are on a mission. She doesn't even look up.

"Yuna, listen to us, or I’m turning off the TV!" her mother threatens, hand hovering over the power button.

"Go ahead, Mom," Yuna chirps, unbothered. "I’ll just switch to my phone."

"Yuna, enough!" her father’s voice booms, finally getting her attention.

She pauses the movie and sighs. "Okay, okay! What’s going on with you two?"

"We are discussing your marriage," her mother says firmly.

Yuna bursts into a fit of giggles. "Mom! At your age? You’re going to marry someone else? Oh, poor Dad... am I getting a stepfather?"

"Yuna, be serious!" her father groans. "We are talking about your life. Do you have a plan, or are you just going to study forever? You had a great career, you quit, and now you’re back in school. When does it end?"

Yuna’s expression softens for a brief second. "Mom, when the time is right, I’ll marry. But marriage isn’t a contract; it’s an unexpressed feeling. How can I commit to someone I don't even know? When it happens, you’ll be the first to know."

She gathers her snacks and marches toward her room like a victorious soldier.

"Yuna! Come back here!" her mother shouts.

Her father reaches out, gently catching his wife’s arm. "Let her go. You know her—once she locks that door, she isn’t budging."
