“The Ghost Who Loved Me”
Chapter 1 – The Night He Found Me
The night felt… wrong.
Not just quiet, but heavy — like the air itself was watching me breathe. The streetlights flickered one by one as I walked down the empty road, my footsteps echoing louder than they should have.
I shouldn’t have been out that late. I knew it. But something inside me refused to turn back.
A cold wind brushed past my face, making me shiver. I hugged myself tightly and kept walking.
That’s when I felt it.
That strange feeling… Like someone was right behind me.
Not close enough to touch — but close enough to hear my heartbeat.
I stopped.
My breath caught in my throat. Slowly, I turned around.
Nothing.
Just an empty road, stretching into darkness.
I let out a nervous laugh. “Get a grip,” I whispered to myself.
But the feeling didn’t leave.
It stayed.
Like a shadow glued to my soul.
I started walking faster now, my heart pounding against my chest. The silence around me grew louder, almost deafening.
And then…
Footsteps.
Soft. Slow. Matching mine.
Step… step… step…
I froze.
The sound stopped too.
For a moment, everything went still.
Too still.
“Who’s there?” I called out, my voice trembling despite my effort to sound brave.
No answer.
Just the wind.
Just the silence.
I shook my head and took another step—
Step.
The footsteps followed again.
This time, closer.
My chest tightened.
“I’m not afraid…” I lied.
But my body knew the truth.
I started walking faster, then almost running. My breath turned uneven, my heartbeat wild and uncontrollable.
And suddenly—
A whisper.
Right next to my ear.
So close that I felt the cold breath against my skin.
“I was waiting for you…”
I screamed and spun around—
Nothing.
No one.
But this time… it was different.
I wasn’t alone anymore.
I could feel it.
Not behind me.
Not beside me.
But with me.
Watching. Breathing. Existing.
For me.
A chill ran down my spine as I slowly whispered, “Who… are you?”
For a second, there was only silence.
Then the voice returned.
Soft. Deep. Almost… gentle.
“Someone who loves you.”
My heart stopped.
That wasn’t fear anymore.
That was something else.
Something darker. Something deeper.
Something that should not exist.
And yet…
It was real.
