Chapter 1

💚

Throwing my last suitcase into the back seats i shut the door before turning back to my grandmother, rushing back i give her one last hug "I'm going to miss you so much grandma! I'll be back again as soon as i can" i promise.

"Just make sure you keep up with your studies and your medicine! They'll sniff you out easily if you miss a single one!" Grandma says squeezing me tighter.

"I know, i know! I'll call you when i arrive" I turn back to my car as my eyes start to sting, i quickly blink to erase the tears.

"Drive safe" She shouts as i get in and turn the key, With one last wave I'm on the road heading to a new beginning!

Turning the radio up I tried to distract myself from leaving home. My Grandmother was all i have had Since my parents died in a car accident when i was 5.

My whole world collapsed around me, i must have slept in her bed every night for a year before i would even go into my own room. She was there for every scraped knee, for every tear, for every spelling B, she even held me as i cried through my first heartbreak.

When i started at the star university she helped all the way through my studies, grandma would stay up all night with me doing flash cards, quizzing me on my exams, she even helped me study herbs!

When i finally finished my doctor studies and graduated top of my class it was all thanks to my Grandmother! That sweet old lady with her curly grey hair, her bright blue eyes and fierce determination.. I wouldn't have been chosen to work in the palace if she didn't keep pushing me!

But there's a downside. I have to keep hidden.

As i am the last Omega...

When I came of age my grandmother knew immediately, i took after my mother. She knew exactly how to hide my scent and hide my abilities. Every Omega gets their own gift.. Mine is healing so i needed the paper trail to back it all up.

When i touch someone i know exactly what's wrong it's weird, it's almost as if i can see the sickness and along with that i can heal it!

My kind died out over the centuries, Alphas would fight wars over us! Not only do we hold gifts but our scent drives Alpha's crazy.. and i mean literally crazy!

An unmarked Omega is worth more than anything to an Alpha. More than money. More than gold. More than their own pack! They will stop at nothing to have one of us for their own.

We are also the only ones that can take their knot when mating. When we go into heat it can only be satisfied by a strong Alpha... So that's why my vials hide me, the liquid my Grandmother gets from her oldest witch friend, it keeps me unnoticed.

It holds off my heat, it makes me nothing but an ordinary she-wolf! Quite genius really.

-----

The drive goes on for 5 boring, uneventful hours, by the time i pull up its late afternoon.

My car comes to a sharp stop as i park at the side of this giant mansion, it looks surprisingly modern for being centuries old!

The whole building is made out of solid oak with pristine white windows scattered throughout, there's no lawn out front it's all just bricks that spread out to the parking bays at each side.

I get out with my eyes glued to the building before i grab one of my bags and throw it over my shoulder.

Walking into the open doors a tall blonde woman writing in a notebook nearly walks straight into me, she looks up just as i dodge making her stop immediately and stumble forward, i grab her arm helping steady her again "Sorry" She gasps "i'm in my own little world most of the time i didn't see you."

I laugh "It's fine don't worry" i wave my hand dismissing her apology.

"Are you new?" Her eyes go to the bulging bag hanging from my shoulder.

"Yeah I've just arrived, I'm just going to find my room and the clinic" I say looking around the daunting entrance.

"Oh i can help! It's the least i can do, the Clinic is simple it's down here just to the right of the grand staircase" She points to a set of double doors with a red cross above it.

"Oh that's kinda obvious" I giggle with a blush.

"what room are you in?" She asks tilting her head slightly.

I grab the paper from my pocket with all my details on, i frown my brows as i scan the paper "Room 24" i answer bringing my eyes back to her.

"Oh that's next to mine!" She smiles "follow me" she turns and starts climbing the solid bare wooden stairs. We turn to the left at the top and go down a wide hall, the walls are painted a simple clean cream with wooden floors matching the stairs.

"We're just here" she points at my door with a clear 24 on it. "I'm just here if you need me" Pointing to number 23.

"That's great thank you, you've saved me a load of time! I'm Willow by the way"

She gives me a kind smile "I'm Kate! I've been here for a year so if you have any questions you know where i am"

Thanking her once more i open the door to my room, it's clean and simple, White walls, a single bed across the wall to the right, a window opposite the door with a set of draws just below it. To my right at the bottom of the bed is a tall double wardrobe with mirrored doors.

There's another door to the left. Opening it reveals a crisp white bathroom with a bath that has a shower head hanging above it on the left. A toilet to the right and a sink with a mirror above it in front of me.

Everything is perfect and mine! I dump my bag on the bed before noticing a set of keys hung up next to the door, i grab them on the way out and lock the door behind me as i go to collect the rest of my stuff.

After another three trips I collapsed on my bed breathing heavily staring at the ceiling. A smile pulls at my lips as i sit up looking around my room again, my eyes stop on the bags thrown all over the floor, i sigh before looking at the door.

Deciding i should unpack rather than avoid the gruelling task, i spend the rest of the evening turning my room into a home i would be comfortable living in.

Placing a picture of me and my grandmother on my draws i take out my phone and let her know about everything I've managed to do so far, i hide my vials under my bed in a box, drinking one like i do every night.

We speak for around 20 minutes before i hang up to finish my room. Feeling exhausted i throw my jeans and t-shirt in a pile next to my draws before curling up in my bed for some much needed sleep.
