Prologue

It’s pitch dark and i was chase by a group of men, they were ready to haunt me. I was hopeless, weak and i felt it was no hope to get rescued again.

“Help me!! someone help me!” I had no strength to scream for help, until i was hit in the car.

October 2026 at Hotel Greeting

I slowly woke up, disoriented, the remnants of sleep clinging to me like a fog. Weird noises echoed around the room, strange and unsettling, making my heart race. My body felt hotter than a microwave, drenched in sweat, yet I was shivering. Exhaustion clung to me, heavy and suffocating. I wanted to escape this unfamiliar place, but my limbs felt leaden. I attempted to rip off the dextrose IV, but a blonde woman stood in my way.

“You don’t take that off,” she insisted, her voice steady despite the chaos swirling in my mind. “Don’t worry, Yoko will bring anything you need. We heard someone was chasing you; I think they’re bad people.”

“What am I doing here?” I croaked, my throat dry and scratchy.

“Resting? They tell me you’re the dead reporter from the cover-up,” she replied, her tone almost casual.

“What the hell?! DEAD REPORTER?” I shot back, my disbelief punctuated by the smug expression I couldn’t help but wear.

“Yeah, they say Alyssa Ashcroft was killed in the cover-up??” she clarified, a hint of sympathy in her eyes.

Ugh... They recognized me from the news. My heart sank at the thought. “Oh great,” I muttered, feeling the weight of my predicament settle heavily on my chest.

A man lingered nearby, he expressions shifting from concern to guilt. he stepped forward, his eyes wide with remorse. “Are you okay? I didn’t mean to hit you in the car. I saw you running, and I thought you were in an accident. Oh god.”

It hit me then; he was the driver from that night. I felt a surge of frustration mixed with confusion—I still couldn’t remember anything beyond the panic.

“Maybe it’s time we introduce ourselves, no?” he suggested, a nervous laugh escaping his lips. The blonde shot him a flirtatious wink, and I rolled my eyes, annoyed that they could find lightness in this grim situation.

“Hey, get yourself a room, blondie. If you want to be lovey-dovey, whatever.” I shrugged, my sarcasm a weak shield against the fear creeping back in.

“Oh, I’m so sorry, someone’s getting jealous! Now your attention is on your personal nurse,” she teased, her smile irritating me further.

“Who are you people?” I asked, the frustration bubbling over.

“I’m your nurse, Cindy. The handsome man here is Kevin, the security guy in this hotel, and Yoko is the doctor,” she introduced them all, finally clarifying the chaos surrounding me.

For thirty long minutes, Cindy and Kevin tended to me with a sponge bath, their gentle touches almost soothing despite my worsening condition.

“Do you have a newspaper?” I asked, my mind racing with questions, but they exchanged confused glances. “How long have I been here?”

Their faces shifted, the unease palpable. “Three days,” Kevin finally said, his voice heavy with concern. “Three days with lots of seizures and vomiting. You scared us to death, Alyssa.”

“What??” My heart sank.

Suddenly, flashes of painful memories surged through my mind—seizures, needles piercing my skin, an overwhelming sense of dread. I was different now, haunted by blurred images of something horrific.

“She’s going to eat... human flesh...” The scientist’s voice echoed in my head as I recalled the grotesque scene, a piece of bloody flesh held before me, forcing it into my mouth.

“I said you eat it!!!” My frantic cries echoed in the void of my memory. A woman, her face shrouded in darkness, pushed me to consume the disgusting flesh, and I could feel the panic rising again.

“Oh my god! Oh my god!! We should call Yoko now!” Cindy’s voice broke through my spiraling thoughts, panic lacing her tone as I convulsed on the bed.

“Call her now!!” Kevin shouted, his face pale as he watched me struggle. The reality of my situation crashed down around me, suffocating and terrifying. All I could do was hold on as my world continued to spin out of control.
