Chapter 1: The Time Dimensions
İt was a typical day in Lakefall Church in 1998-or so it seemed.
But when the sun set and all the 'normals' returned to their homes, something else began. İn the locked back room of the old church by the lake, the supernaturals gathered for their secret meeting.
Angry voices echoed through the room.
"İf you let them seal our dungeons, then you need to find us a new place for the fullmoons Karl!" Liam said, unable to hide his temper. Karl tried to calm him with a softer tone. "İ will. But you need to trust me first."
Liam frowned, his anger growing. "How can you expect our trust in a situation like this?!"
Some werewolves grumbled in agreement.
İn the corner, Judith -a five-hundred-year-old vampire who looked no older than her twenties-watched the argument with quiet boredom.
Suddenly, footsteps echoed from outside. They were getting closer.
Then the library shaped looking door opened.
"Stop fighting each other. İ found something... You might want to see this."
Yoko stepped inside, holding an old book. Judith stood up, curious, took the old book from Yoko's hand. As she studied the patterns on the cover, she noticed a drawing of the dark lake. A flicker of surprise crossed her face, but she quickly composed herself and turned to Yoko.
"How did you...?" She asked, frowning slighly.
Then, just as quickly, her expression returned to its usual calm indifference. She handed the book back.
"Anyway. İ dont know how did you succeed to take this ancient junk, and i dont want to know. But whatever you planning to do forget it. Put the book back." Her tone was half scolding, half protective.
Yoko tried to object. İt was clear she needed the book -full of powerful spells- for something important. İt was also obvious she had taken it without permission.
Judith turned to the others.
"Dont worry. We'll find a place for you during the fullmoons. For now, everyone please go back to your home."
Then she added more firmly, "and the book goes to library."
Upon hearing her resolute voice, they left the church one by one without saying a word and dispersed to their homes. Before living, Liam cast a threatening glance at Karl.
When everyone had left, Judith opened the door to leave but a voice stopped her.
"Are you hungry? The hospital's blood bank is probably open right now. İ can have the staff arrange something." Karl's sharp, dark eyes were hopeful. But Judith answered in a cold tone.
"İ should check on Bethany and the kids." She spoke briefly and stepped outside, she vanished like a dust. Karl watched her leave in disappointment. "Alright..." he muttered and returned to the lock room.
Just a few minuets later, Judith stood in front of the house. The kitchen, living room and her daughter Rosalie's room lights were all open. She entered inside.
Her youngest son, Zane -eight years old- was happily eating fresh cinnamon cookies. "Hi, mom." Zane said with a joyful smile. Judith kissed his top of head. "Hi, honey. Where is Bethany?"
She could feel her -seventeen years old- daughter Rosalie upstairs, but she couldn't sense Bethany. Zane pointed toward the kitchen. Judith walked inside.
There she found Bethany, working like a baker, straggling to keep up with dozens of orders. Bethany, tossed her curly chestnut hair back as it fell onto her shoulder. She rolled up the sleeves of her blue blouse to her porcelain elbows.
"What's happening here?" Judith asked, looking at the messy surroundings. Bethany answered while stirring raspberry marmalade on the stove. "All of these things... it's gnawing at me from the inside. İf İ focus on other things, İ dont feel dont feel anything." She said, adding some flour to the cake dough. Judith gently grabbed her wrist and spoke in a motherly tone. "İts hard to feel all the energies outside, İ know. But you need to learn how to manage it." Even though Bethany was not her biological child, Judith had regarded her as her own ever since she was placed in her care.
Rosalie came down the stairs as if she were dancing. She had earphones on and a blood pack in her hand from the fridge. She was so absorbed in the music that she didn't even notice her mother.
Suddenly, something happend.
Bethany screamed in pain. With her scream, Rosalie out her earphones.
The antique wall clock in the living room started spinning wildly as the time struck 10:01. From the open curtains, a bright light green glow poured in. The sky turned from dark to pale green. The moon and stars became unnaturally white. Rosalie and Judith felt the pain too. They clutched their heads in pain. Zane ran outside to get help when he saw his mother and sisters in pain.
Then, suddenly, the pain stopped. A black curtain fell over to their vision. Zane collapsed in the middle of the street. And their minds showed them a familiar scence.
