Shortie with a Punch 🥊
"Great chemistry from the very beginning! I loved the banter and the natural spark between Jeff and Olivia. Their back-and-forth made them so much fun to read, and I was invested in them almost immediately. My only complaint is that it was over way too soon! I definitely wanted more of these two and would happily keep reading their story."
I wanted more...
"I always enjoy this author's writing style, and I blasted through this emotional and engaging short story. I found the relationship between Olivia and her pilot to be so cute, and their banter was so amusing! I would love to read a sequel to this story exploring more of the progression of their relationship. 💖 "
Short&Sweet
"Short but very engaging. The setting and military atmosphere pulled me in quickly, but it was really Jeff and Liv’s banter and growing connection that kept me reading. I liked how the humor slowly gave way to something more vulnerable. The ending with him missing her and finding the photo, M&Ms, and note was really sweet, but it definitely ended too soon. I would have happily kept reading."
It such beautiful story
"Okay, I finally finished Maybe We Don’t and I HAVE THOUGHTS 😭🤍 This story honestly surprised me in the best way. Going into it, I expected a romance with some military/war-zone elements, but what I really ended up loving was the emotional tension between Jeffrey and Olivia. Their relationship doesn’t feel like it’s built purely around instant attraction. There’s this slow, almost reluctant realization that they’re becoming important to each other, and THAT is what made me invested. Jeffrey and Olivia have such an interesting dynamic because they’re both strong personalities, but they show that strength in completely different ways. Their banter is probably one of my favourite parts because there’s always something underneath what they’re saying. 😭 Like, technically they’re just talking, teasing, or annoying each other, but as a reader you can FEEL the attraction hiding underneath all of it. And I really liked how the romance develops through little things rather than huge dramatic declarations. The small gestures, the teasing, the looks, the moments where they notice things about each other—those details made their connection feel more believable. Sometimes the quiet moments between two characters can say more than an entire love confession, and this story definitely understands that. Olivia especially stood out to me. She has this confidence and independence that makes her feel like her own person rather than simply existing as the female lead in Jeffrey’s story. She has her own career, her own perspective, and her own personality, and I loved watching her interact with Jeffrey without losing that individuality. And Jeffrey??? 😭 Sir, the emotional repression is LOUD. I love characters who act like they have everything under control while their actions are basically exposing them every five seconds. The contrast between his professional personality and the softer side that comes out around Olivia was really enjoyable to read. Another thing I appreciated was the setting. The military environment isn’t just there as decoration; it adds an underlying feeling of uncertainty to the romance. These characters aren’t living in a completely safe, ordinary environment where they have unlimited time to figure out their feelings. There’s danger, distance, responsibility, and uncertainty surrounding them. That makes their little moments together feel more meaningful. And honestly, the title Maybe We Don’t becomes more interesting when you look at the story as a whole. There’s this feeling of two people trying to convince themselves that maybe they shouldn’t cross a certain line... while simultaneously getting closer and closer to it. 👀 THAT is the kind of romantic tension I enjoy. I also liked that the story doesn’t need to constantly scream “THEY LIKE EACH OTHER” at the reader. You can pick it up through their interactions. The chemistry is in the details. The glances. The teasing. The little acts of thoughtfulness. The things they don't say. That made me want to keep reading because I wasn’t just waiting for them to fall in love—I was watching them slowly realize that they were already getting there. The story also has a very easy, readable flow. I never felt like the romance was being unnecessarily dragged out, but it also didn’t feel like everything happened instantly. There’s a nice balance between the plot, character interactions, and romantic development. And because it’s short, it has that “I’ll just read one more chapter” danger. 😭 You know exactly what I mean. You start reading casually and suddenly you’re emotionally invested in two fictional people and questioning why you care THIS much. 😂 Overall, Maybe We Don’t is a sweet, emotional, tension-filled romance with a unique setting and two characters who have genuinely enjoyable chemistry. Jeffrey and Olivia are definitely the heart of this story for me. Their relationship feels like something that grows in the spaces between conversations rather than something that is simply announced to the reader. There’s attraction. There’s vulnerability. There’s uncertainty. There’s teasing. There’s that “we absolutely should not be doing this” energy. 👀 And most importantly, there’s FEELING. I finished the story with that bittersweet feeling you get when you’ve enjoyed spending time with characters and suddenly realise there aren’t any more chapters to read. 😭🤍 If you enjoy romance with slow-burn tension, strong characters, emotional vulnerability, playful banter, and a setting that adds an extra layer of intensity to the relationship, I’d definitely recommend giving Maybe We Don’t a chance. Dara, you really said “Maybe we don’t...” and then proceeded to make me believe that THEY ABSOLUTELY DO. 😭😂 A genuinely enjoyable read with a lovely central romance and chemistry that carries the story. Jeffrey and Olivia have officially taken up residence in my brain rent-free. 🤍 ★★★★★ from me! 🫶🏻"
Noooooooo! I Want More of Jeff & Olivia!! Eeeeeeeeee!!
"A story about a military pilot who loves eating M&Ms meeting a female photographer in a restricted zone he was stationed in. The writing style is great! I especially love the bantering of Jeff and Olivia. Based on their interactions, the chemistry between them is palpable, haha. I ship those two sooo hard. T^T The descriptions of the scenery was vivid, and I love how you even included the noise of a helicopter, lmao! As for the plot... you're so cruel, dear author. So cruel... *sob* Well, anyway! The plot was easy to follow and will definitely keep you hooked and wanting for more... Please tell me we'll see more of them!! Arghh!!! There were no typos, grammar errors, or any sentences that feels off. So perfect for this! Overall, if you want to read a short story about a military guy bantering with a female photographer, teasing each other, and just straight-up having subtle romantic interactions, then I HIGHLY recommend this story."
