When a Visionary Gets a Second Chance

"The writing is beautiful, thoughtful, and deeply emotional. Every chapter feels meaningful, balancing the fast-paced world of Silicon Valley with the quiet, intimate moments that truly define a life. The protagonist is wonderfully written. She feels authentic, strong, and vulnerable all at once, making it impossible not to empathize with her journey. Her struggle to reconcile ambition, family, and the weight of impossible choices is both heartbreaking and inspiring. This isn't just a story about a successful CEO — it's a story about love, regret, second chances, and what really matters when time becomes your most precious gift. I'm not at the end yet, but I already feel confident recommending it✨ If you're looking for a beautifully written, emotionally rich novel that stays with you long after you've put it down, this is one you shouldn't miss🖤"

Sincere and Moving

"Well, as a reader the passage is SINCERE and MOVING. The line 'the timeless places where love outlives the clock' is particularly poignant, and indeed, it did convey the hopes and the permanency in so few words... lovely ! The introduction is short, but it touches on Susan's memory as well as the universal love of a mother. It's a tale to be reflected on, a tale to be healed by, a tale to be celebrated... it's an interesting story and I hope to see your next (Story) Work sometime soon. Congratutions and thanks for sharing this story !👏"

An Emotional Masterpiece That Will Break Your Heart (In the Best Way Possible)

"I started reading this thinking it was just a high-stakes corporate drama about tech, but holy cow... the emotional depth of this story completely wrecked me in the best way possible. The way the author handles grief, ambition, and a mother's desperate love is just breathtaking. The characters feel so real and flawed, and that final twist completely recontextualizes everything in a way that stays with you long after you turn the last page. The pacing keeps you hooked, and the writing style is deeply immersive. If you want a story that has incredible emotional stakes and a gut-punch of an ending, you need to read this. Absolutely unforgettable!"

Surreal🤔

"The ending was unexpected❤️ but the scene you'll know something is going to happen. Sarah's life was already extraordinary. Her achievement. Her success in running the company made her who she is now. Yet, in those years, sacrifice were made. Those people that surrounds her had to take the price. It maybe a typical family drama, but the writer was able to express Sarah's feelings especially on those days before she die. "

A Story That Will Break You and Put You Back Together

"After her is a memorable story . What begins as a story about grief and a powerful CEO slowly becomes a story about regret, love, and the things we do for the people we cannot bear to lose. The dual time-travel structure, with both Sarah and Jake trying to save each other without the other knowing, works very well. The final chapter is what brings everything together. The final reveal changes the meaning of every scene that came before it. The writing is easy to follow and creates many emotional moments. At its core, this is a story about choosing family before it is too late. It earns every tear it asks for."

A truly moving story

"This story is incredible. It had me hooked from beginning to end. Following Sarah's journey as she tries to rewrite part of her life to spend more time with the family she loves so deeply, while also not abandoning her second family—the company she devoted so many years to—was truly captivating. It's an emotional story that leaves you with so many moments to reflect on. And the ending? Wow. I never saw that coming. Congratulations to the author on such a beautiful and unforgettable story. ❤️👏"

Review

"Wow, this second-chance story hits hard! Inspired by Susan Wojcicki, Sarah's journey of waking up years before her passing to fix her career, save her family (especially her son), and fight against a stubborn timeline is emotional and gripping. The corporate drama, heartfelt family moments, and themes of legacy, regret, and embracing what matters feel authentic and moving. Loving the mix of ambition and love—can't wait to see how she navigates the 'fate fights back' tension. Beautifully written and deeply human"

A biopic with unexpected twist

"What started as an intriguing biopic became even more captivating when it introduced time travel. Yes, time travel. From that point, the story expands beyond drama, taking on an adventurous and reflective tone. At its heart is Sarah Ellis, the visionary founder of AlphaCorp, who is given a chance to revisit her life—facing past mistakes, strengthening bonds with loved ones, and gaining a deeper understanding of herself. It’s a journey that explores second chances, personal growth, and the choices that shape who we become. The concept immediately caught my attention, and I’m excited to see where Sarah’s journey through time will ultimately lead her."

AMAZING !!!

"Basically a story about a second chance. Is the main character going to take advantage of it and do things differently the second time around? Or is she going to end up in the same spot as the first time? I do hope she learnt something from her previous experiences. This story gave me chills, thrills, it made me laugh, it scared me, it made me sad, it surprised me... it has a little bit of everything, which makes it great from my point of view. It’s complex, yet really easy to understand. I can only hope the ending will be a happy one ❤️ I will stick around until the end, in order to find out"

There's something about Her ...

"Sarah Ellis, the respected founder of AlphaCorp and mentor to many within the tech industry, passes away unexpectedly, sending shockwaves through employees, colleagues, and former business partners. She awakens in a mysterious conference room with no idea how she got there. As memories of her final moments return, she begins questioning the choices she made in life and whether her devotion to work came at the expense of her family. This story is based on the life of Susan Wojcicki, the visionary behind Google and YouTube. But I like how author N.M.C. doesn’t simply retell her life story from birth to death. Instead, she uses the protagonist's memories of her own life as she examines mistakes and wise decisions she's made ...and ultimately decides to choose family over work. Very clever A well-written story filled with mystery and reflection, it leaves readers wondering where Sarah is and what purpose still awaits her beyond death."

Something Twisted, Something New

"The story surely capture my attention back there. finally! I had finished it. I just wanted to say... the story is not what it seams. it may sounded like a time travel troupe we might already encounter. But it is nothing like that. her desire to save her son, that even death, she still wanted to do it. The story is not about how she conquered the Silicon Valley, the world already knows it. Her story talks about how she deals with her grief. Anyway, Kudos on to your writing. This should be noticed by readers out there. it's intriguing. "

Another worth to read

"the concept is simple, BIOPIC+ DRAMA but even in the first few chapters, you have captured what a biopic should look like. Well yes, another Cliché's time travel experience. Yet, when I read the story, It different from what I've expected. I would like to see more on the Character till the end. Now that i have read till the end. Everything was mindblowing and emotional. At first I thought it was just a typical time travel. But the ending made changed everything. I love it."

Interesting read

"I was so hooked from the very first chapter. The writing was generally strong, the grammar was solid, and the darker atmosphere created a sense of intrigue that made me want to keep reading. I think the story has a genuinely compelling premise and a strong foundation. While I struggled with issues such as confusing POV shifts, unclear transitions, and narrative organization, I believe the core concept is interesting and has a lot of potential. With substantial editing and refinement, this could become a very engaging and memorable story."

After Her

"You're right—this is a completely different story. I read it carefully, and my feedback would be very different from the previous one. This story already has a strong emotional foundation and an interesting "what if" premise inspired by Susan Wojcicki. Instead of focusing on the concept, I'd focus on helping the author improve the execution. Here's the review I'd leave: This is a heartfelt and ambitious opening. I like how you've blended historical inspiration with fiction while honoring someone who clearly influenced the story. The corporate setting feels different from most books on Inkitt, and the emotional impact of Sarah's passing is established right from the beginning. One suggestion I'd make is to tighten the pacing in the first chapter. There are several scenes where similar information is repeated—for example, multiple phone calls confirming Sarah's death and several descriptions of people's reactions. Condensing some of those moments would make the chapter flow more smoothly and allow the emotional scenes to have an even stronger impact. I also noticed a few small grammar and wording issues throughout the chapter (such as tense shifts, repeated words, and occasional awkward sentence structure). A careful proofreading pass would polish an already compelling story and make the reading experience even smoother. Finally, because this story is inspired by a real public figure, I'd love to see a little more of Sarah's personality shine through in the opening chapter. Showing a few unique traits, habits, or memorable interactions before moving deeper into the corporate storyline would help readers connect with her emotionally from the very beginning. Overall, this is a unique concept with a lot of heart. I'm looking forward to seeing how the second-chance element unfolds and how Sarah's journey develops. I really enjoyed reading this chapter. The emotional shift from the political intrigue of the previous chapters to a deeply personal story about regret and second chances was compelling. The opening immediately caught my attention, and the gradual realization that Sarah wasn't simply dreaming but reliving a pivotal moment in her life kept me invested throughout. What stood out most was the emotional weight behind Sarah's reflections. Her realization that she had prioritized success over the people she loved felt genuine and heartbreaking. The memories of her husband remaining by her side during her illness and the devastating loss of her son added real emotional depth to the story without feeling forced. Those moments gave the chapter its strongest impact. I also liked how the mystery unfolded piece by piece. At first it seemed like a dream, then a memory, and finally the possibility of time travel. That progression was handled well and ended with an intriguing cliffhanger that makes me want to keep reading. One small suggestion would be to polish the grammar and formatting in a few places. There are occasional typos, repeated words, and tense shifts that interrupt the flow slightly. Cleaning those up would make an already engaging chapter even stronger because the emotional core is definitely there. Overall, this was a touching and thought-provoking chapter about regret, family, and the hope of redemption. It left me curious to discover how Sarah will use this unexpected second chance. Great work, and I wish you continued success on Inkitt! "
