Summary

The life of Ryujin is perfect. He has it all; the money, the fame, and the title of the luckiest guy in the entire school. However, this is all a strategy for survival. Behind the closed gates of his home estate, lies a violently abusive father who makes sure that Ryujin only survives through another day because he smiles and keeps his head low. That is until Ryan comes along. At first, it is just small, subtle things like having a shared friend circle with Divya, Jasper and Haru Looking at Ryan with stolen glances whenever he catches his eye. The infuriating ease with which he steals the spotlight. Then the anger masking Ryujin's anxiety turns into something much more sinister attraction. Ryan is becoming a danger. He is starting to ask the right questions. He is beginning to notice the bruises. However, loving Ryan is dangerous. It means taking the next step in something that goes against everything society deems acceptable. Not to mention, Ryujin will have to risk exposing the abuse he faces at home. Bringing Ryan into the picture would mean pulling him into the same situation. On the other hand, pushing him away leaves Ryujin isolated.

"Luckiest Blue Lips" is about the burden of luck. Yet, it is also about the times when that burden was lifted from us.

The heat of the classroom, the growth that occurs in silence, and the desperate chaos of rebelling and choosing to love even if the world around us tells us otherwise.

It is a story about those brief moments when we are children and do not realize that the people we are "very close" to will one day be just that

very close, in the way we carry their shadows with us forever in our pockets.

This piece is not written to tell you the cold of that season. This is a tribute to the memory of the past, to the love that remains after seasons and time and death, love that lasts even if it only exists as a memory in an old picture.

Being "lucky" may mean nothing more than being remembered once we are gone.
