AIDEN BLAKE

“No, Aiden. I don’t think you’re ok, let’s take you to the clinic or hospital." I hear Adrian say worriedly and it makes me even more wrecked now that I think about it. “can you even see me?” he asks, holding onto my arms so I don’t lose my balance but that’s when the fear increased because… "I can only see a blurry figure, it has gotten worse now. "I…I can" he interrupts me. "Don't even think about lying to me," he warns and I remain silent. How should I even tell him that 'I am losing my eyesight now? No, I dreaded the thought. What if Adri doesn’t want a disabled person? “I only see a blur. " I couraged up and said it. The next thing I knew, I was swooped up in his bigger arms. "I am taking you to the hospital and that’s final. " I guess it’s time I accept whatever is coming, no matter how cute the sight was, the nervousness in me was bigger to think positive. 'Can I really face my fate?' I hold onto him more as the Uber parked right in front of us, we immediately got in. "It will be ok," he assured me as I hid in the crook of his neck. 'I'm scared.'

I am Blake Aiden, 23 years old, and here is Adrian Vale, my boyfriend. We've been dating since high school till now, but something has happened a lot recently, my health...

Just one morning I woke up with puffy eyes like always, but this time it was different because it hurt a bit, but I thought maybe it was normal and it would go away, so I brushed it off like it was nothing.

A week later and my eyes swelled, at first it wasn’t painful or anything, but that night I almost screamed in pain. I was alone at that time and took a few painkillers, I was good except for my appearance, I couldn’t hide it from Adrian. He had taken notice, but stubborn as I am, I disagreed, covering it up with 'I am fine' every time.

And that almost made me blind because I couldn’t see now, only a fading blur. I got so scared I didn’t know why my eyes were acting up, not like I inherited a disease from my family, but we can never be sure.

“Ok, relax. We are going to do a retina scan on you." I heard an assuring voice as they pushed me on a stretcher, Adrian holding my hand comfortingly. At least that makes me less nervous. I hope it’s ok.

“I am sorry, but you will have to wait here...” I tried to look past the blur, but I couldn’t see anything just fading figures. "Ok, Aiden, that was your name?” The voice, whom I assumed was the doctor asked, and I managed a nod. "Ok, just relax. "I will take a few samples and do you a scan, but I suggest a full scan seeing your condition." Did he mean it was worse? "No, don’t worry, just to make sure you are all ok," he said softly, and I found myself nodding.

He held my hand and helped me get into the hospital gown and sat down at a sort of microscope or whatever machine it was. 'This is it’ I breathed . . .

“Hey...you awake? Can you see me?” I heard voices as I tried to open my eyes, but of course I was met with a blur. "It's the drugs that’s why you were out," he reminded me, and I nodded, sitting up. I can’t see a thing clearly yet. "The results came out and..." he trailed off making me confused. "What...What is it...?” I could feel my soul trying to shutter but held on more just to know what happened to me. "Since your boyfriend was adamant to know what the results were, I told him, but..." I could feel my patience running thin. Why isn't he saying anything? "Say it already!” I shouted in frustration “he just ran out, it’s been an hour and hasn’t come back." "What!!!" I still don’t get it.

"W…what was the result?” I ask even though I know I am damn weak to react, but I have to know. "You got eye cancer." The moment the words left his mouth, I fell shocked for a moment. “M...me? How..." I didn’t get it yet, I have cancer. "Am I going to die?” “Mr. Blake, no! "Don't panic." How can I stay calm when I am going to die? "M...my phone...” I want to talk to Adrian." This can’t be happening, it’s a dream, yeah? I want to wake up from it, I could feel tears brimming and burning my eyes. It hurt to even cry, but I don’t care. "Here it is." The doctor hands me my phone as he keeps on chanting for me to calm down, but how can I?

"Adri..." I whispered. "Sorry...?" He looked at me confused. "Call Adri..." I handed him my phone, and he understood right away since I can’t see the screen. A number of rings, but he doesn’t pick up. It makes me even more paranoid. Where was he? I need him right now to take me away from here. "Sorry...he switched off his phone...” and that was the last straw I had in me.

I ran out of the room in only a gown. “ADRI!” I kept on shouting his name, hoping he would come out from where he was. I didn’t want to think the worst. “Adriie!!” I called out loud like a maniac. I guessed everyone was staring at me like I was some kind of lunatic, but I don’t care...

Did Adri really leave me? No... No, he can't, right? It’s just a joke, he will be back

I kept on telling myself as I span around hoping to see him, though all I could see was a blur, “This can’t be happening!!?” I kept on chanting like a mantra as I sobbed hard, and that’s when I felt a sharp pain through the back of my head, direct to my eye. “Ahhhhhh!!!” It hurt like hell I felt like dying. "Urgh..." I lost balance and almost fell but felt someone hold onto me. “Mr. Blake, calm down...you're hurting yourself." It didn’t hurt much, unlike my heart did right now. I felt myself engulfed into darkness, and everything completely shut off from me...

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
