Están en todos: algunas enormes, otras casi invisibles. Sin embargo, hay algo que no encaja: quienes las tienen no parecen afortunados, sino cansados, como si cargaran con algo demasiado pesado. Todo cambia cuando conoce a Gael, un chico callado con alas gigantes. Fascinado, Simón se acerca a él y nota algo extraño: sus alas crecen cuando sufre y se reducen cuando ríe. Aunque insiste en preguntarle si pesan, Gael siempre lo niega, ocultando una verdad que ni él mismo quiere aceptar. La historia de Gael revela el origen de ese peso: una infancia marcada por la ausencia emocional de sus padres, el abandono progresivo y una soledad que fue creciendo en silencio. Enviado a vivir con su abuela Anna, Gael comienza a cargar con un dolor que no sabe nombrar. Sus alas, invisibles para él al principio, se vuelven enormes, reflejando todo lo que guarda sin decir. Simón, en cambio, vive desde la curiosidad y la necesidad de entender. Pero su mirada cambia cuando enfrenta su propio dolor tras la muerte de su abuela. Por primera vez, siente el peso en su espalda y comprende que esas alas no son un privilegio, sino la manifestación del sufrimiento.

Capitulo 1

Mí madre me explicó de muy pequeño que las personas tienen alas. Nunca la entendí, ya que en mi casa nadie tenía ni siquiera una pluma. Todo cambió cuando comencé a ir a la primaria. Ahí las vi. Ancianos, jóvenes, niños… todos con alas. Algunas tan grandes que parecían arrastrar el aire, otras tan pequeñas que apenas se notaban. La gente las consideraba “especiales”. Pero quienes las llevaban estaban… ¿cómo decirlo? Cansados. Con el paso del tiempo, empecé a quererlas yo también. Quería saber qué se sentía mirar atrás y ver algo tan… propio. En secundaria conocí a Gael. Era la primera persona que veía con unas alas tan gigantes. Me pareció increíble. Un día le pregunté:
