Chapter 1
Yoko was in a hurry. "I'm going to miss the bus!" she yelped, even though she was home alone. It was her first day of school in the big city, Enderspire City. Realizing she had about two minutes to catch the subway to her new school, she snatched her breakfast, a plain toast with jam, in her mouth and dashed out the door, slamming it behind her.

The subway in the morning was a busy place. Yoko panted, trying to catch her breath. She was just in time for the train going to Enderspire High School. "Thank goodness!" she exclaimed, and hopped on the train.
While on the subway, a random thought came to Yoko. I should try and make friends! There must be other students here! So, looking around, Yoko's eyes caught on someone wearing the same school uniform. She had piercing amber eyes, gray hair, and was staring directly at the ground, as if avoiding making eye contact with anyone. Does she have... CAT EARS!? Yoko took a few steps closer. She did! "E-excuse me!" Yoko stammered, "but do you have cat ears?" The other girl turned her unwavering gaze toward Yoko. She gave a swift nod.
"I happen to, yes." she said. "I'm Yui. And you are?"
"I-I'm Yoko!" Yoko rushed to introduce herself. Yoko had never been the best at talking to new people, so she stuttered a lot. But unlike most people, Yui wasn't mocking her. In fact, it seemed like Yui couldn't care less if the person she was talking to was even there or not!
Yui paused. For a second her poker-face faltered and Yoko could detect a hint of emotion. "Yoko is a pretty name..." Yui mumbled, "Nice to meet you!"
