Chapter 1: New Begining.

-Chapter 1-

New Beginning

At first, I thought I was the crazy one.

But looking around now? I’m definitely the only normal person here.

He stood in the middle of the campus park, surrounded by couples so romanticized they looked like they belonged on a movie poster.

This was the world of Your Romantic,a dating sim that had recently taken the world by storm.

It was famous for its heartbreaking choices and a story that made players question their very existence.

And the game my sister was obsessed with.

I was one of its victims. Or at least, I was.

I’d only played the game for my sister’s sake, and I never really paid much attention to the game itself.

She was obsessed to the point of madness, even forcing me to reach out to the developers to demand access to rewrite a specific ending.

I wasn’t exactly Sherlock, so I didn’t know which ending she hated.

But I did it as a favor. Then, something impossible happened. My sister got her wish, but somehow... I was the one who got sucked into the screen.

But...

Why did it have to be me?!

He tried to walk away to escape the sloppy atmosphere,

But it was no use.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a guy leaning over a girl, whispering:

“You’re stuck here with me, baby.”

Yeah, buddy. I’m pretty much stuck here too...

He threw a stone at them and ran toward the nearest restroom.

This was the kind of cliché I’d only ever seen in webtoons.

Wait...

Am I the main character of some story?

He reached the restroom and skidded to a halt in front of the mirror.

Staring back at my reflection... I realized...

This wasn’t me... “The hell...?”

The guy... He’s handsome, certainly. It looked like a younger version of me

I completely forgot I was 19 years old...

He examined the unfamiliar jawline and the clear skin.“This is basically an upgrade...” He muttered to himself.

But... as soon as he realizes... He’s stuck in this good-for-nothing game.

Right... I should be worrying how to survive...

Ugh...He’d sigh as he slumped against the sink.

He walked out and began roaming the campus.

A sign nearby read:

Henryson Integrated School.

It was a prestigious academy where only the children of the elite, the ‘golden spoon’ crowd, were allowed. It covered everything from elementary to senior high.

In the game, this place was a breeding ground for drama and scandal. It offered premium facilities and gourmet meals, a far cry from the microwaved ramen I used to eat.

He pulled a student ID from his pocket as he walked toward a classroom.

[Jayson Fernandez][Grade 10 - Sapphire]

Jayson? This is probably a nobody... the kind of guy you’d bump into in a hallway and forget three seconds later.

He sat down at his assigned desk and leaned back.

In short, I’ve been transmigrated into an Extra character. Usually, in these stories, the guy becomes a “hidden boss” or steals all the heroines.

...

OoooOo.

Come to think of it, I don’t really hate the idea

and...

I really wanted to be the center of the game...

But in my case, it’ll be impossible.

As he looked at the ceiling, a semi-transparent blue box flickered into thin air.

[Good Afternoon, Player.]

Trait: ‘The Typical Extra’ has been activated.]

[Objective: Finish 10 Quests before the timer hits 0.]

[Open Quests?]

[Penalty for Failure: Death.][Reward: 100 Points.]

[Time Remaining: 23:59:44]

The System.The ultimate trope.

Open Quests, He commanded mentally.

A list appeared: sweep the floor, roam the campus, read a book, you name it... simple chores. But then he realized the catch.

This System is blocking me.

It’s forcing me to stay an extra so I don’t interfere with the main characters.

[Yes.]

Fuck you

Who in their right mind sets ‘Death’ as a penalty for failing to sweep a floor? You’re crazy.

[Detected hostility from the Player. Time limit decreased to 12 hours.]

YOU DRAMATIC FUCKE-

“Uh, hello?”

A soft voice broke his internal rant.

A girl stood beside his desk, looking down at him expectantly. He jumped slightly and turned toward her.

“Oh, hi?”

“Can I borrow your notes?” she asked shyly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

She looked familiar...

Does she have a crush on me? Is the protagonist’s luck finally kicking in?

[No.]

... never mind.

“Sure, why not?” He reached into his bag. As he pulled a notebook out,

He paused.

“Wait, which subject?”

She blinked, looking at him as if he’d asked what color the sky was.

“English...?”

“Right! My fault.” He swapped the book and handed it over.

For a moment, their eyes met.His heart skipped a beat, but not for the reason you’d think.

This was Anna Mendoza. In the game, she was the primary Villainess.Right now, she looked kind and polite, likely because the “Main Character” hadn’t transferred yet. Well, without a rival to trigger her jealousy, the villainess was just a pretty, kind girl.

No wonder she looked familiar...He scratched his head.

“Uhh... are you okay?” She asked, her brow furrowing with worry and suspicion.

“N-no! I mean, yes. Sorry,” he blinked rapidly.

“Oh... okay. Thank you.” She gave a small nod and retreated to her seat

Her pre-villain personality is unrecognizable,He mused. But whatever. I just need to find a way so I can go home.

[No.]

Shut up.

Since it’s lunch break, I have to leave the classroom to finish my tasks like mopping the floors and hauling the heavy trash bags to the campus bins.

Outside, the school felt like a movie set. The air was warm and still, soaked in honeyed sunlight while birds sang and the wind hummed a soft melody.Typical.Later, as he finished all his tasks-

[Player,][You have successfully finished all tasks.][Reward shall be granted upon entering your classroom.]

He hurried back, less for the reward and more because the bell was about to ring.

Just as he slid into his seat, the ringing echoed through the halls. Class was starting.

A woman stepped into the room, their teacher. Also followed by a varsity player palming a basketball.

“Stand up,” the teacher commanded.

The class rose in unison. “GOOD AFTERNOON, MA’AM!”

“Please be seated and quiet,” she said, nodding to the athlete.

“Good afternoon, Henrysonians! I’m Keir, from the basketball team,” the guy announced.

“I’m here to invite you to our finale match against our rivals this Saturday. We would like to ask you a favor to bring your friends and family to help hype us up in the upcoming finale! He flashed a smile at the teacher and headed for the door.

Keir, he thought, watching him leave.

The school heartthrob. Athletic, handsome, and caring. At least, that’s his character profile in the game.He sighed. You’d be surprised that there are 3 more that are just like him.

Wild right?

Well, he’s kind, sure, and filthy rich, but that has nothing to do with me.

He adjusted his position, focusing on the teacher.

Right now, I just need to focus on being a background extra. That’s what the system wants, right?

[That’s right.]

I’m really starting to hate you...

Although I guess that’s a good thing because this thing is not exactly helpful.

[...]

Later, the bell rang. Some students headed out to get their notebooks from lockers, and some went to the canteen to buy food.

[What are you doing?]

“Eating?” He’s holding a piece of bread as he walks down the school hallway; he obviously came from the canteen.

[Oh, so you’re one of those.]

“One of what? What are you even sayi-

“Jayson?” A voice rang across the hallway, a girl.

“Yes?” He approached her.

This person-

“About our presentation,” She opened her book and flipped some pages, looking for something.

Her calm expression is beautiful, a perfect match based on the aura around her.

She is-

Diana Orchagez. One of the main characters of this game. She was a major character in the game, too. Known for being the rival of the main character. She was also known for being the most intelligent on the whole campus before the main character stepped in. She was cold and stuff, but that’s all I know about her since I don’t really pay attention to this kind of information... She often portrays my girlfriend though... but that’s out of the question...

“Yes, what about it?”What presentation? He asked both internally and verbally.

She looked at him as if she were waiting for another answer, a hint of worry and disbelief...

“The Presentation?” She asked as if demanding where it is.

“Oh... Uhh, can you perhaps... tell me about the presentation?”

“...” She turned to him and blinked... “Did I mishear you? Can you repeat that?”

“Ummm... Just to be sure... we’re still on the same page about the... topic... right?” He smiled... awkwardly...

“...”

“I think I’ve thought of you highly that I forgot there are limitations on human minds.” She shut her book back in her bag.

“Don’t think about it, Mr. Fernandez.” She turned,

“But talking about it right now, it seems like you’ve forgotten to do the role I gave you.” She looked at him, pissed, but still with her calm demeanor.

“Please,” She looked at him, disappointed,

“Finish the presentation by Saturday, tomorrow.”

“Failing to do so... I guess I’ll have to tell the teacher to give you and Claire a zero mark.” She looked at him threateningly and then left without turning around.

Cold.

I completely forgot she’s a monster when it comes to stuff like this...She didn’t even tell me the topic for the presentation...Wait.. she mentioned someone, right?... Who’s Claire?...
