Chapter 1 the path

Shayamli’s POV:

After receiving yet another earful from my mother regarding my studies and my future marriage, I felt suffocated. I stepped out of the house, desperate for some fresh air. I found myself walking down the road aimlessly, wearing nothing but my nightdress, lost in thought.

As I wandered, my mind drifted toward the future—my career and, more pressingly, the man I would eventually marry. I wondered if we would ever find that "love match" I so deeply craved. Would someone like a "green forest" (vibrant, full of life, and calming) ever accept me? I often felt plain—dark and chubby—but if there was one thing I loved about myself, it was my expressive eyes. When my tongue failed to find the right words, my eyes always spoke for me.

Suddenly, a harsh sound shattered my thoughts.

"Honk! Honk! Honk!"

A sleek black sedan screeched to a halt right at my feet. My heart skipped a beat, and in a moment of pure panic, I threw my hands up in the air and squeezed my eyes shut.

When I finally dared to look, a man in his 40s was climbing out of the car, screaming at me for walking in the middle of the road. I snapped back to reality and quickly stammered out an apology.

As I turned to run back toward the safety of my house, my gaze accidentally locked with a man sitting in the back of the car. He was expressionless, but undeniably handsome—with a sharp, defined jawline and a perfect hairstyle.

Another sharp honk broke the spell. I tore my eyes away and began to run once more, my heart racing for an entirely different reason.
