Chapter 1 â The Girl Without Power
The Astrielle Clan was known as one of the most powerful magical bloodlines in the kingdom of Elarion.ï»ż
For generations, every child born into the clan awakened extraordinary powers.
Every childâŠ
Except Lunette.
---
The grand temple was silent as seven-year-old Lunette stood in the center of the sacred room. Candles surrounded her in a glowing circle while priests whispered ancient prayers.
Beside the doorway stood her two older sisters, Maya and Yuki, watching closely.
The high priest slowly approached Lunette.
âYou must stay calm, child,â he said gently. âClose your eyes.â
Lunette nodded nervously and shut her eyes tightly.
This was the moment she had waited for her entire life.
The moment her powers would finally awaken.
The candles suddenly flickered.
The room darkened.
A cold wind passed through the temple halls.
Thenâ
Silence.
The candles went out completely.
The priests stared at one another in confusion.
Nothing happened.
No light.
No magic.
No sign of power.
Lunette slowly opened her eyes.
ââŠDid it work?â she asked quietly.
Nobody answered.
Then Maya laughed softly.
âHow pathetic,â she said. âYou donât belong to the Astrielle Clan.â
Yuki crossed her arms and looked away.
âBig sister, we shouldnât talk to her too much,â she said coldly. âOur reputation will fall.â
The servants lowered their heads awkwardly.
Even the priests stepped back.
As if Lunette had suddenly become something shameful.
The young girl stood there silently while everyone around her created distance.
That day, Lunette Astrielle became known as the powerless child of the Astrielle Clan.
---
Years passed.
Lunette turned eleven, but nothing changed.
No matter how hard she tried, no magic ever appeared.
One afternoon, while walking alone through the forest near the Astrielle estate, Lunette wandered farther than usual while searching for flowers.
That was when she saw it.
A hidden temple deep within the woods.
Ancient vines wrapped around silver pillars, and glowing flowers bloomed around the entrance.
Lunette slowly stepped closer.
And there, standing beneath the light of the trees, was a woman with long silver hair.
Lunetteâs eyes widened immediately.
âYouâre⊠the Great Fairy Freya?â
Freya.
The legendary fairy who had once saved the world alongside her companions centuries ago.
At least, that was what the stories said.
Freya looked at the small girl before her with gentle curiosity.
âWhat are you doing here, child?â she asked softly.
Lunette held the flowers close to her chest.
âI came here to collect flowers,â she answered honestly. âBut⊠I recognized you right away.â
Freya smiled faintly.
âI heard so much about you,â Lunette continued excitedly. âI want to become just like you one day.â
For a moment, Freya simply looked at her.
Then she gently placed a hand on Lunetteâs head.
âYou will, child,â she said softly.
âOne day⊠you will become far greater than me.â
---
Those words echoed inside Lunetteâs mind the entire night.
For the first time in years, someone had looked at her without disappointment.
The next morning, Lunette made her decision.
She would leave home.
She would become Freyaâs disciple.
---
At breakfast, Lunette nervously gathered her courage.
âI want to go to the forest temple,â she said quietly. âI want to serve the Great Fairy Freya and learn from her.â
Maya nearly laughed.
âGo ahead,â she mocked. âItâs not like we wanted you here anyway.â
Yuki sighed in annoyance.
âYouâre embarrassing enough already.â
Lunette lowered her gaze.
Then her father finally spoke.
âYour sister is harsh,â he said calmly, âbut not entirely wrong.â
Those words hurt more than anything else.
He looked at Lunette carefully.
âAnd besides⊠Freya disappeared hundreds of years ago. No one has seen her since.â
âBut I did,â Lunette whispered.
Her father said nothing.
That silence alone was enough.
---
That evening, Lunette packed her small bag quietly and left the Astrielle estate behind.
Nobody stopped her.
Nobody asked her to stay.
---
The forest felt colder at night.
But Lunette kept walking until she finally reached the hidden temple once again.
Freya was waiting there.
Lunette took a deep breath before bowing her head.
âMiss FreyaâŠâ she said shakily.
âI want to serve you as your pupil.â
She hesitated for a moment.
ââŠEven though I donât have any magical powers.â
Freya looked at the young girl silently.
Then, without saying a single wordâ
She stepped forward and hugged her gently.
Lunette froze in surprise.
No one had ever embraced her like that before.
Freya smiled softly and guided her toward the temple.
âCome inside, child.â
And for the first time in her lifeâŠ
Lunette felt like she finally had a place to belong.
