What is your opinion?

Emotionally Captivating

"This is a beautiful work based on the creator of the bitcoin. Now, we don’t really know who the real guy is behind Nakomoto but the author has skillfully taken this and created a beautiful work on it with well written chapters where you feel the emotions of the character. #ICBC"

A pleasant surprise

"I have never had an interest in Bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general, but Lauren's storytelling here made me want to read more. While fictionalized, there is an astounding amount of research that has gone into this work. I have a deep appreciation for her inclusion of Nakamoto's family, culture, and how the events of the late aughts shaped every decision he was soon to make. The vocabulary usage is massive and at some points felt a bit jarring. That said, the high intelligence of the protagonist does lend to the use of uncommon or what I'll call 'decorative' words. It's a choice that certainly makes this story stand out. Overall, I can't believe you convinced me to read about crypto. Well done! "

Great read

"This surprised me in the best way possible. Just a few chapters in, I can already tell this is exceptional. The author has clearly put a lot of care and research into the story, and it really shows. The attention to detail is impressive, the characters are well written, and the pacing makes it an easy, engaging read. I especially like the split-persona angle and the family dynamics, which add a lot of depth to the story. I'm not usually a fan of techno-thrillers, but this one is so character-driven that I found myself completely invested. Definitely an intriguing read so far. #ICBC"

Great Fresh Premise

"This book has a very unique concept. It's not really the genre I read, but I can tell it's been written with care and research. Despite not being from or understanding that world, as a reader I could relate to the main character which honestly surprised me. It's historical science fiction but reads a little like action. It gave me Mr. Robot (tv show) vibes. #ICBC"

An Intriguing Blend of History and Technology

"This story has a unique premise and it's clear the author has put a lot of research into both the historical and technical aspects. Even though this isn't my usual genre, I appreciated the attention to detail and the mystery surrounding Satoshi Nakamoto. The emotional moments in Chapter 2 especially helped me connect with the protagonist. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story continues to unfold."

Intellectually thrilling

"Books about cryptocurrency often get lost in the weeds of code and economics, but this one does something truly remarkable. It humanizes the myth. The author creates a beautiful, seamless blend of complex technical concepts and the deeply personal, reflective side of Nakamoto’s life and memories. I imagine a lot of time and effort has been invested in this story. You get a front-row seat to the staggering genius of the brain that built Bitcoin, but you also get to feel the heartbeat behind it. Balancing intricate tech terms with such a vulnerable, human portrait is no small feat. It’s an absolute masterpiece for tech enthusiasts and casual readers alike."

A very unique read!

"Wow! Let me start by saying: I was not expecting that (in the best way possible)! The author very clearly did their research before writing this one! I had to google a bunch of stuff in order to at least partly follow along with the tech terms! Personally, I'm into it! I do that in my own writing. Using terms and refferences that one might need to look into in order to get the full picture, I mean. I think it adds a layer to a story. One might need to earn enough knowledge of how certain things like bitcoin and computers work in order to get it, the same way the MC here uses codes and biometrics to access his appartment! I enjoyed the pacing, too! Something is always going on! Not a single sentence goes to waste! All for Lawren to tell us this is all in the future, in the end! Brilliant! Very, very different! And hard to write, too! This sort of "frame story" narrative is something only an author who knows their stuff can produce right! Homer used it while writing the famous "Odyssey". While this story might be hard to process and digest for some, I genuinely believe it will also peak the interest of readers into tech and electronics! Whoever stumbles upon it and finds just the title interesting, is deffinitely gonna stick around for the whole ride! #ICBC"

Great Opening

"I know next to nothing about crypto, yet the sheer brilliance of this writing had me hooked. I expected technical jargon that would leave me lost, but instead, the narrative brilliantly explores the psychological toll of shedding a mundane identity to unleash a digital alter ego, as well as the complexities of the man behind Bitcoin. A spectacular opening."

Intrigue, and finance, what a match!

"IF things like finance, cryptocurrency, and well kept secrets are things you enjoy, then you will love this book. I'm just a chapter in and the setting has all the right elements to make me, the reader want to know more. Technically, its very well done. I didn't find any glaring grammar or punctuation errors, and narrative flowed with ease. The elements, such as computer software and components are mentioned with just enough emphasis to let you know they make something work without one feel compelled to read through all the schematics...looking at you Tom Clancy. Of course I have questions, lots of them and that means that the hook has been well set and this happy fish will be wriggling on the line that is this story. #ICBC"

Review

"Really enjoyed this fictionalized take on Satoshi Nakamoto's story! The Jekyll/Hyde split-persona framing, the tech details, and the family drama during the 2008 crisis pulled me in right away. It's a fun, fast-paced techno-thriller that humanizes the legend while keeping the mystery alive. Great for Bitcoin fans or anyone who loves smart, high-stakes fiction. Can't wait for more chapters"

A character-driven page-turner!

"The author clearly did extensive research for this book, weaving the history of Bitcoin's creator into an emotional character-driven page-turner. Nakamoto and his family are well-rounded characters with relatable problems, which captured my attention from the first chapter on. Lauren Cowan's writing style is exquisite, carefully crafted with smooth narration and compelling realism. The writing is artfully done, with occasional profound passages that halted me in my tracks with the beauty of the writing, relatability, and a raw sense of shared humanity that I highly value in books and do not come across as often as I would like. I've found myself thinking about Nakamoto and his parents at random times, which keeps me returning to read another chapter. To me that is one of the biggest indicators of a great book—when the story and characters keep popping into the reader's thoughts during idle time. This is one that I'll definitely finish and I'm sure I'll be chagrined when there are no more chapters left to enjoy. I'm on chapter 8 now, and I am invested in Satoshi Nakamoto's journey. One of those books that are difficult to tear myself away from. ✨💖 #ICBC "

A bold origin story for Satoshi Nakamoto

"This fictional reimagining of Satoshi Nakamoto's origin is ambitious, layered, and often quietly devastating. The author grounds the birth of Bitcoin not in tech genius alone, but in family trauma, cultural identity, and the raw fallout of the 2008 financial crisis and that choice elevates the story above typical fintech fiction. The writing style is sharp and restrained, with occasional lines that stop you cold. "He refused to sell his soul for a paycheck” is the kind of sentence that earns a reread. The family dynamics , particularly Sobo's stoic sacrifices and Otōsan's silent collapse are handled with real emotional intelligence. Overall, a compelling and original take on a legend. Well worth reading."

The Person Behind the Myth

"I've read through Chapter 4 and have really enjoyed the story so far. What started as a mystery about the legendary figure behind Bitcoin has gradually become a character-driven story about the person behind the myth. One of the things I enjoyed most was seeing Otsūsan's journey before he became Nakamoto. The family dynamics, his frustration at seeing the financial crisis unfold, and the feeling of being ignored despite knowing something was wrong all helped make him feel relatable and human. The story does a good job showing both his intelligence and his struggles, which made me more invested in his journey. I also liked how each chapter built upon the previous one. Chapter 1 introduced the mystery, while the following chapters added emotional depth and helped me understand the motivations behind his future actions. The realization in Chapter 4 connected many of the earlier themes together and made the foundation of Bitcoin feel like a natural evolution of his experiences rather than just a historical event. Overall, the premise is unique, the research is evident, and I'm interested to see how Otsūsan's path continues to develop as he moves closer to becoming the Nakamoto introduced in the prologue. "

The mysterious Nakamoto

"I binged all three installments available at the moment (I need more!), and I have to say, what a strong start! The protagonist is only known as 'he' so far, and as Satoshi Nakamoto, who he will of course become. The author did her research well. The details make it feel real, like this could actually be his story. I want to imagine that it is. Such a terrific job so far, can't wait to read more!"

Strong Beginning with Intelligent Writing

"The story has a strong beginning with truly intelligent writing--there is a lot of technical jargon which could be overwhelming, but is presented in a way that even a lay person can get a gist of what is happening/what everything means. The writing does keep the reader at a little bit of a remove, which may be intentional, but it makes it a little difficult for the reader to connect with the MC. A captivating start, I would definitely be interested in reading more to find out where the author takes the story. #ICBC"

Very informative and profound

"The way book is structured is very intriguing, we see the birth of a visionary, but we also have a look into his soul, into his foundations. The events of 2008 are very thoroughly depicted, the impact it had on so many lived and how devastating it was. At the same time, the crisis gave birth to new era, new ideas and the book captures that very well. I had a bit hard time following the timeline in the beginning and the book delves a lot into internal world of Satoshi, also I wouldn't personally tell everything to the reader as a narrator, but this is still very well executed. Author's writing style is definitely high quality. #ICBC"

Original concept

""Coming into this knowing next to nothing about Bitcoin or its creator, the opening blurb instantly grabbed me. It feels like a completely original idea and something totally new for the genre. The story dives deep into high-tech concepts, masterfully hinting at government conspiracies and institutional greed. It feels incredibly 'on the nose' regarding how the world is actually run—specifically how a secret hierarchy will always step in to corrupt any new way for everyday people to become wealthy. While I occasionally got lost in the heavy technical jargon, it perfectly fits the atmosphere of the story, and readers 'in the know' will absolutely love those details. Overall, this is a fantastic, well-written opening chapter that beautifully weaves great imagery into a high-tech plot.""
