Chapter 30
Sara froze.
He touched her?
That was the only thought echoing inside her mind again and again, louder than her own heartbeat. Her fingers trembled slightly as she stared at him, her breath uneven, eyes filled with confusion, fear, and emotions she herself could no longer understand.
But strangely... she wasn't angry.
Not at him. Never at him.
Somewhere deep inside, Sara understood why he did what he did.
She remembered the way he looked at her - not with lust, not with cruelty, but with desperation, with love, with fear of losing her. And the most terrifying part was that his touch itself didn't disgust her. She was comfortable with him. Safe with him.
A safety she had never felt before.
Yet her past refused to let her breathe.
The darkness she had buried for years clawed its way back into her mind, wrapping around her throat like chains. Every painful memory, every sleepless night, every moment that had once shattered her came rushing back all at once. It was as if her heart was standing in the present, beside Shubman... while her mind was trapped somewhere far behind, in a place filled with fear and broken trust.
Her chest tightened painfully.
She wanted to believe him. She wanted to calm herself down, to tell her racing mind that this was Shubman, the man who would rather break himself than hurt her. But trauma was cruel. It didn't care about love. It didn't care about logic. It only knew how to haunt.
Tears slowly gathered in her eyes as she looked away from him, trying to
steady her breathing.
"Did... did you touch me?" she finally whispered, her voice so fragile it almost broke in the middle.
The question wasn't filled with hatred.
It was filled with fear.
Fear of not remembering.
Fear of losing control.
Fear of reliving the same pain again.
Shubman took a deep breath, his hands trembling slightly as he looked at her tear-filled eyes. For a moment, he couldn't speak. The guilt sitting inside his chest felt unbearably heavy, almost suffocating. He hated himself for being the reason she looked so scared right now.
Then, finally, in a quiet broken voice, he whispered,
"Yes... yes, I did touch you."
Sara's breath hitched softly, and Shubman immediately closed his eyes for a second, gathering the courage to continue.
"And I am so sorry, princess... so, so sorry."
His voice cracked halfway through the sentence. He looked at her like a man terrified of losing the person he loved the most.
"I should've asked you first. I should've waited for your consent... for your permission. But I didn't, and I hate myself for that."
He swallowed hard, guilt burning in his chest.
"I wasn't thinking clearly. I wasn't trying to hurt you, Sara... God, I could never hurt you. But that still doesn't change the fact that I crossed a line without asking you first."
His eyes turned glassy as he looked down at his shaking hands.
"You trusted me... and instead of making you feel safe, I made you question everything. I made you scared. And that is the last thing I ever wanted."
Sara could hear the pain in his voice - raw, honest, unbearable. There was no excuse in his words, no attempt to justify himself. Just regret. Pure regret.
Shubman slowly stepped back, almost as if he was afraid his presence itself would overwhelm her.
"If you're angry at me, you have every right to be," he whispered. "If you hate me after this, I'll accept that too.
But please believe me when I say... I never touched you with disrespect. Never."
A tear slipped down his face as he continued,
"I care about you too much to ever intentionally hurt you, princess. I just... I made a mistake. A terrible mistake."
The room fell silent after that. Heavy.
Emotional. Painfully quiet.
And Sara sat there frozen, because for the first time, she could see that Shubman was breaking just as much as she was.
Sara hesitated.
Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out. It felt as if her throat had closed up completely. Her fingers curled tightly around themselves, trembling from fear, while her mind drowned in thousands of thoughts at once.
Should I tell him?
The question terrified her.
For years she had buried her past so deeply inside herself that even speaking about it felt painful. Dark. Shameful. Like reopening wounds that had never truly healed. And now, standing in front of Shubman, the man she loved more than herself, she was terrified of what would happen once he knew the truth.
Would he leave her?
Would he still look at her the same way after hearing everything?
Would the softness in his eyes disappear?
Would he stop loving her?
Her breathing became uneven again as fear tightened around her chest.
What if he thought she was damaged?
What if he blamed her?
What if he reacted the same way her parents did?
The memories alone were enough to make tears gather in her eyes.
Her parents never truly understood her pain. Instead of holding her when she was breaking, they questioned her, silenced her, made her feel like her suffering was something shameful. And that fear still lived inside her heart.
What if Shubman did the same?
What if he divorced her after knowing the truth?
What if anger replaced love?
What if one day he also raised his hand on her the way others had raised their voices?
The thoughts were destroying her from inside.
But then another voice inside her heart whispered softly -
He is your Shubman.
The same man who looked shattered seeing even a single tear in her eyes.
The same man who blamed himself instead of defending himself.
The same man who loved her gently, patiently, completely.
And somewhere deep inside, Sara knew one thing with certainty - if there was one person in this world who might truly understand her, it was him.
It felt unfair to hide something so big from her husband. From the man who deserved to know why she got scared so easily, why certain touches made her freeze, why her eyes sometimes carried pain even when she smiled.
She wiped her tears nervously and took a shaky breath, trying to gather whatever courage she had left.
"Shub... Shubman..." she whispered, her voice trembling badly.
Shubman immediately looked at her, concern filling his eyes again.
Sara lowered her gaze, struggling to speak.
"I'm not angry at you..." she said softly. "I-I... I'm just..."
Her voice cracked completely.
She pressed her lips together, trying not to cry again, but the emotions inside her were too overwhelming.
"I want to tell you something."
The sentence came out barely above a whisper, fragile and terrified, as if saying those words alone had taken every bit of strength she had.
Shubman immediately sat down on the floor in front of Sara, his trembling hands gently holding hers as if he was scared she would pull away from him at any second. His eyes searched her face desperately, full of fear, guilt, and love all at once.
"You're... not angry?" he whispered softly.
Sara slowly shook her head. Tears had already gathered in her eyes, but there was no hatred in them. Only pain... and love. She leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on his forehead.
The moment her lips touched his skin, Shubman closed his eyes tightly and let out a shaky breath he didn't even realize he had been holding. It felt like someone had finally given air back to his lungs.
Sara looked down nervously, her fingers trembling inside his hold. Her heartbeat was loud in her ears. She opened her mouth to speak, then stopped. Fear crawled back into her chest.
"But... I wa-want to tell you something..." she whispered weakly.
Shubman instantly tightened his grip around her hands, his expression softening even more. He moved a little closer to her, his voice gentle and comforting.
"Say it, princess," he murmured. "Whatever it is... I'll believe you."
Those words shattered something inside Sara.
Because nobody had ever said that to her before.
Nobody had ever chosen trust before hearing the truth.
Her lips trembled violently as tears rolled down her cheeks. She tried to stay strong, tried to speak, but the pain she had buried for years finally broke free. A sob escaped her lips as she suddenly moved forward and wrapped her arms around him tightly.
She slid down from the bed and into Shubman's arms, crying like a little child who had carried too much pain for far too long.
Shubman's heart cracked hearing her cry like that.
He immediately pulled her closer, one arm wrapped protectively around her waist while the other stroked her hair softly. He rested his chin on her head, holding her as if he could protect every broken piece inside her.
"It's okay... it's okay, baby," he whispered repeatedly, his own voice shaking. "You don't have to be scared anymore. I'm here. I'm not leaving anywhere."
Sara cried harder hearing those words. Years of fear, silence, and loneliness poured out through her tears. Her fingers clutched his shirt tightly as if she was terrified he would disappear if she let go.
After crying for several minutes, Sara slowly pulled away from Shubman's arms. Her cheeks were wet, her eyes swollen red, and her breathing still uneven from everything she had been holding inside for so long.
She couldn't even look at him properly.
Her fingers nervously twisted together as she whispered in a broken voice, "C-can we go home...? I... I don't like this place anymore."
Her voice cracked at the end.
"I'll tell you everything once we... we reach home."
The moment those words left her lips, Shubman's heart clenched painfully.
His eyes softened immediately as he looked at her fragile state. Seeing his Sara like this was tearing him apart from the inside. He hated the fact that she was hurting so deeply, yet he didn't even know the reason behind her pain.
But one thing he knew for sure-
Whatever had hurt her this badly...
Whoever had made her cry like this...
He would destroy every single thing that haunted her.
He would make sure those nightmares could never reach her again.
Without asking a single question,
Shubman simply nodded softly.
"Okay, princess," he whispered gently.
"We're going home."
He reached for his phone quickly and called his manager. The warmth in his voice disappeared instantly, replaced by a cold seriousness.
As soon as the call connected, he spoke firmly, "Seb, how much longer?"
On the other side, Sebastian hesitated nervously.
"S-sir... around ten more minutes."
Shubman shut his eyes for a second, clearly impatient. His jaw tightened before he replied in a dangerously calm voice,
"Fast, Sebastian. I don't have time."
"Yes, sir," Sebastian answered immediately before the call ended.
The room fell silent again.
Shubman looked back at Sara instantly, and the coldness in his face disappeared the second his eyes landed on her. His fingers moved gently to tuck the messy strands of hair behind her ear before he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss against her forehead.
"Princess," he whispered lovingly, "just ten more minutes, hm?"
Sara stayed quiet, her eyes lowered.
"Till then," he continued softly, "come eat something. You haven't eaten anything since last night except those chocolates."
Sara immediately shook her head weakly.
"No... I don't want to."
Shubman sighed softly, his heart aching at how small and exhausted she looked.
"Please, baby," he whispered, almost pleading now. "Please... for me."
Sara hesitated.
She really didn't feel like eating.
But her body was tired, and honestly... she was hungry too. After a few seconds, she finally gave him a tiny nod.
The smallest smile appeared on Shubman's face, full of relief and affection. He leaned forward and kissed her cheek softly.
"That's my good girl," he murmured gently.
Before Sara could react, Shubman carefully lifted her into his arms.
Sara instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist while her arms clung tightly around his neck, almost as if she needed his warmth to feel safe. She buried her face near his shoulder while he carried her effortlessly toward the chair.
Shubman sat down slowly with her still in his lap, refusing to let her go even for a second.
One arm stayed securely around her waist while the other reached for the food. He patiently brought small bites toward her lips patiently.
"Just a little," he whispered every time she tried to refuse.
Sara slowly started eating while sitting curled against him, and in between feeding her, Shubman would take a few bites himself without ever moving her away from his chest.
The entire time, his fingers kept rubbing soft comforting circles against her back.
As if silently promising-
You're safe now. You never have to carry your pain alone again.
🍂🍂🍂
On the way home, silence filled the car.
Not the peaceful kind.
The heavy kind. The kind that carried unspoken pain, fear, and emotions too deep to put into words.
The soft sound of the tires against the road echoed inside the quiet car while the afternoon outside passed in blurry lights.
Shubman kept one hand on the steering wheel while his other hand held Sara's tightly, almost possessively, as if he was scared she would slip away from him if he loosened his grip even a little.
Every few minutes, he would bring her hand to his lips and press soft kisses against her knuckles.
Silent reassurances.
I'm here. I've got you. You're not alone anymore.
But Sara...
Sara was somewhere far away.
She was sitting beside him physically, her head resting lightly against the seat, her fingers still wrapped in his hand... but her mind was drowning elsewhere. Her eyes remained fixed outside the window, unfocused and distant, like she was replaying painful memories she wished she could erase.
And Shubman noticed.
Of course he noticed.
He noticed the way her fingers trembled sometimes. The way she went completely still after every few minutes. The way her breathing changed whenever she got lost in her thoughts.
His heart broke a little more every single time he looked at her.
But he said nothing.
Because right now, he knew she didn't need questions.
She needed time. She needed safety.
She needed someone who would stay beside her quietly until she was ready.
So instead of forcing her to speak, Shubman simply tightened his hold around her hand and gently rubbed his thumb across her skin.
At one point, when the car stopped at a signal, he turned slightly toward her and softly tucked a strand of hair behind her ear again.
Sara didn't even react.
That scared him more than anything.
Usually his princess would smile at the smallest gestures. Usually she would lean into his touch, pout at him, or mumble something dramatic.
But today...
She looked broken.
And Shubman hated himself for not being able to take away her pain immediately.
His jaw tightened as he looked back at the road, anger slowly building inside him-not toward Sara, never toward her-but toward whoever had hurt her enough to leave this kind of fear in her eyes.
He silently promised himself again-
Whatever it is... Whoever it is... He will end it. Completely.
The drive felt endless.
Hours passed like that.
Sometimes Sara would unknowingly tighten her hold around his hand, and every single time she did, Shubman would immediately kiss her knuckles again, silently reminding her that he was there.
Not leaving. Not questioning. Just loving her quietly.
After nearly four to five hours, the car finally slowed down as they reached home.
The moment the gates opened,
Shubman looked toward Sara again.
Her eyes were still distant, exhausted from crying and overthinking.
His chest tightened painfully.
He parked the car quickly and turned toward her fully this time. Without caring about anything else, he gently cupped her face.
Sara nodded silently as tears still rested in her eyes. Shubman Gill gently held her hand and whispered softly, "Let's go inside."
Without saying another word, both of them slowly walked toward their room. The silence between them wasn't awkward - it was heavy, emotional, filled with fear, love, and unspoken pain. As soon as they entered, Sara quietly sat on the edge of the bed while Shubman closed the door behind him carefully, almost like he was protecting her from the entire world outside.
He walked toward her and sat beside her slowly, giving her space yet staying close enough for her to feel his warmth. His eyes never left her face. He could see how scared she was, how her hands trembled slightly, how she kept trying to stay strong even when she was clearly breaking inside.
Very gently, he lifted his hand and brushed away the tears stuck on her cheeks before leaning forward and placing the softest kiss on her forehead.
"You know..." he whispered, his voice filled with concern, "it's okay if you're not ready to tell me. Please, baby... don't force yourself. Don't push yourself just because you think you have to."
The moment he said that, Sara quickly shook her head, almost panicking at the thought of keeping things hidden from him.
"No... no," she said immediately, her voice cracking. "I want to tell you everything. I don't want to hide anything from you anymore. You deserve to know the truth... all of it. I'm ready."
Shubman looked at her quietly, his heart aching seeing how hard this was for her.
Sara took a deep, shaky breath, trying to calm herself. Her fingers tightened around his hand as if she was scared he would disappear if she let go.
Before speaking again, she looked into his eyes - eyes that always felt like home to her - and whispered in the smallest voice,
"First... tell me you love me."
The question shattered him.
Shubman's eyes softened instantly, filled with nothing but love and pain for the girl sitting in front of him.
Without wasting even a second, he cupped her face carefully, as if she was the most fragile thing in the world.
"I love you," he whispered immediately.
Then he rested his forehead against hers and repeated, this time more emotionally,
"I love you more than anything, baby. More than my own life. And listen to me carefully..." his voice broke slightly, "nothing you say tonight will ever change that. Nothing in this world could make me stop loving you."
Sara's fingers trembled in Shubman's hands as she tried to gather the courage to continue. Her breathing was uneven, and every few seconds she had to stop herself from breaking down completely.
Slowly, she began to speak.
"This... this happened four years ago," she whispered weakly. "I-I was eighteen back then..."
A tear rolled down her cheek as she stared down at her lap, unable to look at him.
"I never had a boyfriend before. Baba was very strict when it came to things like dating or boys. He was always protective of me... maybe too protective sometimes." She let out a small, broken laugh through her tears. "And honestly... I never really liked anyone either. I never felt anything for anyone until... until I met Vivaan."
Her voice cracked at his name.
"Vivaan Saxena."
The room fell painfully silent for a moment.
Sara shut her eyes tightly as tears slipped out faster now. It was clear that even remembering him hurt her deeply.
"He was two years older than me," she continued softly. "And just like every stupid teenage girl... I had the biggest crush on him." She wiped her tears helplessly. "Everyone in college used to say he was a playboy. Every single person warned me about him.
They used to say he flirted with girls all the time, that he never stayed serious with anyone..."
She paused, shaking her head slowly.
"But I never believed them. I didn't want to believe them." Her voice dropped into a whisper. "Because to me... he felt perfect. He was charming, confident, caring... everything my eighteen-year-old heart thought was love."
Sara swallowed hard before continuing.
It started during a college event. Back then... dancing was everything to me. I loved it so much." A tiny smile appeared on her lips for barely a second before disappearing again. "I had participated in one of the performances, and during
Her fingers instinctively gripped Shubman's hand tighter.
"And he was there."
She looked lost in the memory now.
"He was the student head of the event management team, so he handled almost everything. I still remember how he rushed toward me when I fell." Her tears fell harder. "He helped me sit down, brought ice for my ankle, kept asking if I was okay... he stayed with me the entire time."
Sara let out a shaky breath.
"No one had ever cared for me like that before outside my family. And for an eighteen-year-old girl who already had a tiny crush on him..." she laughed bitterly through tears, "that was enough to make me fall even harder."
Shubman stayed silent, listening carefully while gently rubbing circles on the back of her hand.
"We started talking after that," she whispered. "At first it was normal... just small conversations. Then we exchanged numbers after talking two or three times." She looked away, ashamed of her own innocence. "And after that... we talked constantly.
Morning to night. Texts, calls, video calls... every single day."
A painful smile appeared on her face.
"I used to wait for his messages like they were the best part of my day.
Even hearing his voice made me happy." Her voice broke again. "And my stupid little crush... it kept growing bigger and bigger until I was completely in love with him."
Sara wiped her tears quickly, but they wouldn't stop.
"One day after college ended, he asked me to go on a date with him."
Her lips trembled badly now. "And I was so happy... so unbelievably happy." She covered her face for a second, embarrassed by the memory.
"I literally danced around my room when I came home that day. I remember staring at my clothes for hours because I wanted to look perfect for him."
She laughed softly through tears, but there was nothing happy in that laugh anymore.
"And when we finally went on that date... he told me he liked me a lot. He said he had never felt this way for anyone before." Her breathing became shaky again. "He held my hand and told me he wanted to stay with me for the rest of his life..."
Sara's tears fell uncontrollably now.
"And I was so stupid..." she whispered painfully. "So young... so naive..."
Slowly, she looked up at Shubman with broken eyes.
"So I said yes."
Sara's voice trembled as she continued speaking, every word sounding heavier than the last.
Shubman sat beside her silently, his heart breaking watching her struggle through memories she had buried for years. His jaw tight.
"The first two or three weeks of our relationship went perfectly," she whispered softly. "At least... that's what I thought back then."
A small, painful smile appeared on her lips before disappearing almost instantly.
"We were always together. We talked all day and all night, shared everything, laughed over stupid things..." Tears gathered in her eyes again. "He treated me so perfectly in the beginning. Like I was the most important person in his life."
She looked down at her trembling hands.
"And I trusted him more than my own life."
Her breathing became uneven.
"But after one month of dating... things slowly started changing." Her voice cracked slightly. "He stopped putting in the same effort he used to.
The sweetness faded little by little, and I didn't even realize when I started feeling scared around him instead of happy."
Sara swallowed hard before continuing.
"He always wanted a physical relationship with me..." she whispered carefully. "But I wasn't ready. I kept telling him no because I wanted to take things slowly."
She wiped her tears quickly.
"But he hated hearing no."
The room fell silent for a second.
"Whenever we were alone, he would pin me against walls or benches and kiss me forcefully." Her fingers tightened around each other.
"Sometimes he wouldn't stop even when I pushed him away."
She hesitated badly before speaking again.
"And he used to touch me..."
Her voice became almost inaudible.
"On my chest."
A tear slipped down her cheek immediately after saying it aloud.
"I always pushed his hands away.
Every single time. I kept telling him I was uncomfortable, but he never really listened." Her voice shook painfully. "He would just laugh and say that couples do these things, that I was acting childish."
Sara took a deep breath, trying to steady herself.
"One day, me, him, and some of his friends were sitting in the canteen." Her eyes stared blankly ahead, lost in the memory. "Out of nowhere, he suddenly asked me to kiss him in front of everyone."
She shook her head slowly.
"I got really uncomfortable. Everyone was staring at us and I felt trapped."
Her voice broke. "So I quietly refused."
A long silence followed.
"I could see his expression change immediately." Tears rolled down her cheeks faster now. "But I ignored it and went to my class."
Sara's breathing became shaky.
"After college ended that day..." she whispered, "someone suddenly grabbed me from behind and dragged me inside an empty classroom."
Instantly, Shubman's grip around her hand tightened protectively.
"It was dark inside," she whispered through trembling lips. "Before I could even understand what was happening, I realized it was Vivaan."
Her body visibly shook remembering it.
"I tried asking him what he was doing, but before I could say anything..." Her voice cracked completely. "He slapped me."
The words hung painfully in the air.
"He slapped me so hard my head turned." Tears streamed endlessly down her face now. "And then he started screaming at me... asking how dare I disrespect him in front of his friends."
Sara hugged herself tightly.
"He pulled my hair painfully..." she whispered. "And then he kissed me forcefully. It hurt so much." Her breathing became uneven. "I kept trying to push him away, but he wouldn't stop."
She closed her eyes tightly, struggling to continue.
"He tore part of my college uniform and I remember being terrified." Her voice shook badly. "I froze completely because I didn't know what to do."
The room became unbearably silent except for her quiet sobs.
"But then..." she whispered weakly,
"some teachers started talking outside the classroom door."
She took a shaky breath.
"So he stopped."
Sara wiped her tears helplessly.
"But before leaving, he slapped me one last time." Her lips trembled violently. "And then he looked at me and said-"
Her voice broke into pieces.
This time you're saved. But next time, if you do something stupid like this again... you'll be punished.'"
The moment the words left her mouth, Sara broke down completely, unable to hold back her tears anymore.
After that night, I stopped talking to him. I blocked him everywhere. For a week, I didn't even go to college. I was terrified.
During that time, he kept calling me. He said he was sorry. He said he felt guilty. He cried, He begged, He said he would do anything to prove how much he loved me. He kept trying, and I - I wanted to believe him.
So I forgave him.
For three months, things were good again. We were living happily, like nothing had ever happened. Everything felt normal.
But then one day, Baba and Mama left for a wedding. They wouldn't be back until the next day.
At night, I was on a video call with Vivaan. He asked where my parents were, and I told him without thinking.
Fifteen minutes after the call ended, it was midnight. The doorbell rang.
I went downstairs to open it, and Vivaan stood there, smiling. I froze. I got scared the moment I saw him. But he hugged me and said, "Why don't you show me your room?"
I hesitated. I thought he had changed. I thought maybe I could trust him again. So I led him to my room.
Then, suddenly, he locked the door. He pushed me against the bed and kissed me forcefully. I cried. I begged him, "Please, no. Please, stop." I shouted, but he covered my mouth with his hand.
He raped me.
He fucking raped me.
Sara broke down as she said it, her voice cracking.
Shubman sat frozen, his face pale.
"He... he raped me, Shubman," she whispered. "And not only that - he recorded it. After he was done, he left. I cried the whole night. I kept thinking, what will I tell Baba? So I decided I wouldn't tell anyone."
The next morning, when Baba and Mama came home, the first thing Baba did was slap me. He showed me the video. Vivaan had told them to pay him 50 lakhs to delete it. Baba was hurt. Disappointed. Angry. He gave Vivaan the money. But after that, he stopped talking to me. Mama stopped talking to me too.
I tried to explain. I told them he raped me. I told them I didn't do anything wrong. But no one listened.
After I finished my studies, we moved to another city.
"For four years..." Sara whispered, her voice trembling so badly that Shubman could barely hear her, "no one talked to me properly, Shubman. No one."
Tears rolled silently down her cheeks as she stared blankly at the floor.
"I was completely alone." Her lips trembled painfully. "I lived in the same house as my parents, yet it felt like I didn't even exist anymore."
She let out a broken laugh through tears.
"Every single day felt cold... silent... empty."
Her fingers twisted together nervously.
"No one trusted me. Everyone thought it was my fault." Her voice cracked.
"For four years, all I received from my own parents were cold stares, silence, and disappointment."
Sara wiped her tears helplessly, but they wouldn't stop.
"And you know why I wasn't ready for this marriage?" she whispered weakly. "Because after everything that happened... I became scared of everything."
Her breathing became uneven.
"I'm scared of trusting people."
Another tear slipped down her cheek.
"Scared of loving someone. Scared of getting close to anyone."
Her voice became smaller and smaller.
"I'm scared of physical closeness too..." she admitted painfully. "Every time someone comes near me, I panic.
Every time someone touches me unexpectedly, I feel terrified all over again."
"I didn't know how to love anymore, Shubman." Sara cried softly. "I didn't even know how to feel normal anymore."
Then she looked at him with shattered eyes.
"But Baba told me..." her lips trembled violently, "that if I married you... he would finally start talking to me again."
The pain in her voice was unbearable.
"And I missed them so much." Tears streamed endlessly down her face now. "For four whole years, all I wanted was my parents back."
She broke down crying harder.
"I just wanted them to look at me like their daughter again... just once."
Her breathing shook uncontrollably.
"So when Baba said that marrying you would fix everything..." she whispered weakly, "I said yes."
Sara lowered her head, tears falling nonstop onto her hands.
"Not because I was ready... not because I wasn't scared..." Her voice cracked completely. "But because I was tired of being alone."
