𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟭The Man Everyone Feared
Nobody in the city said Adrian Devereux Russo’s name loudly.
Not in bars.
Not in meetings.
Definitely not inside Black Veil Corporation.
People whispered it instead.
Like a warning.
Rain slammed against the glass walls of the thirty-second floor while employees moved carefully through the office, eyes lowered, keyboards clacking like nervous heartbeats. Even the air inside the building felt cold. Controlled.
Fear lived here.
And at the center of it…
Was him.
Adrian Devereux Russo.
The CEO of Black Veil Corporation stood beside the massive window of his office, one hand tucked into his pocket while the city lights flickered beneath him like dying stars. His black suit looked untouched despite the storm outside. Expensive watch. Dark gloves. Silver ring resting against long fingers stained faintly with cigarette smoke.
Calm.
Too calm.
That was what terrified people the most.
Not his voice.
Not his power.
Not even the rumors.
It was the silence.
The terrifying silence before somebody disappeared.
“Sir…” Ethan Hayes stepped carefully into the office, tablet pressed tightly against his chest. “The investors from Milan arrived.”
No response.
Adrian continued staring outside.
Ethan swallowed nervously. He had worked under Adrian for four years, and somehow the man still made his spine freeze.
Then slowly…
Adrian turned.
Sharp grey eyes.
Cold enough to kill conversation instantly.
“How late were they?”
“…Seven minutes, sir.”
Silence.
Ethan already knew somebody’s funeral had probably started spiritually.
Adrian walked toward the desk with slow steps, the sound of his shoes echoing across the office like a countdown. No rush. Never rushed.
Powerful people never rushed.
“They kept me waiting,” Adrian said quietly.
Ethan sighed internally.
There it is.
“They apologized repeatedly, sir.”
Adrian placed his gloves carefully on the desk. “And?”
“And… they requested another chance.”
A faint smile appeared on Adrian’s face.
Worse than anger.
Much worse.
“People mistake kindness for weakness too often, Ethan.”
The room suddenly felt smaller.
“I built this company from blood and threats,” Adrian continued softly. “If they waste my time today, tomorrow they’ll try to disrespect me.”
Ethan looked away.
Because Adrian wasn’t joking.
Everybody knew Black Veil Corporation wasn’t just a company.
It was something darker underneath the luxury.
Something dangerous hidden beneath billion-dollar contracts and polished office floors.
Rumors spread through the city constantly.
Politicians feared him.
Businessmen obeyed him.
And enemies?
Enemies vanished.
Adrian sat down slowly in his chair, loosening his tie just enough to reveal the tattoo crawling slightly above his collarbone.
A black serpent.
The symbol people whispered about online before deleting their posts minutes later.
“Cancel the meeting,” Adrian said.
Ethan blinked. “Sir?”
“I’m no longer interested.”
“But the deal is worth millions.”
Adrian finally looked up.
“And?”
That single word shut the entire room down.
Ethan nodded immediately. “Understood.”
Before he could leave, Adrian spoke again.
“What floor is Felix Parker working on today?”
Ethan paused.
“Marketing department. Floor sixteen.”
Adrian’s expression remained unreadable.
But something dark flickered behind his eyes.
“Interesting.”
Ethan noticed it instantly.
That look.
The one Adrian got whenever something caught his attention.
Or someone.
Outside the office, thunder cracked across the sky.
And somewhere sixteen floors below…
The Parker brothers had absolutely no idea their lives were already moving toward something dangerous.
Something obsessive.
Something that would ruin them beautifully. 🌧️🖤
