Chapter 1: Two Years Earlier

Asher Sacks before the Iron Patriot Bastion Revolution of 2038 found himself still working at downtown firm in Los Angeles. Asher found himself to be mostly a court errand man for the firm run by Rasul Temiz which the firm itself was named after him Temiz LLP. Asher had been working there for about twenty years straight, already the country was facing a mess in terms of an upcoming general election and the death. Asher had always enjoyed being out in the streets of Los Angeles, but sadly as the years went by things were not getting better. Asher got on a bus heading towards a courthouse, he could see that everyone was focused on the upcoming election.

“I can’t wait for us to have socialism” remarked one woman on the bus.

That bothered Asher – people wanted a new entire system and already it was causing him to get nervous. As he managed to make his way to the courthouse with the documents in hand, he checked in – very tight security – tighter than usual.

“Ah, Asher Sacks a regular!” laughed one of the security guards.

The security guards nodded to Asher, as they allowed him into the building with the court documents. He could tell that everyone were too focused people hadn’t learn since the last major election and everyone was still widely polarized. When Asher stepped into the courtroom, the clerk gave a conformed stamp to Asher.

“Here you go” said the clerk.

Asher nodded and took the conformed copies with him. As he headed back he checked his cellphone while sitting on the bus – news just broke over the death of Robert Bond New York City’s Police Chief at the hands of rioters. This captivated the country on both sides as Asher observed the doom scrolling news feed on his cellphone.

“Well that’s not good” thought Asher.

Asher didn’t realize that this was going to be the tipping point for the country – Robert’s son – Jackson Walter Bond was distraught on live television. Asher did his best not to have the volume up so high but he heard others on the bus instead tuned it up.

“This is a dark day in America” said Jackson as members of the press began to clammer around, “I know we have a system in place that’s supposed to bring about justice. But, the words escape me at this moment. You don’t know what it’s like to have such a loss!”

Jackson echoed the sentiment many average Americans felt about crime – both parties the Stars and Stripes Party and the Common Good Association did very little to stop the crime wave from happening. Jackson made the plea out to everyone in the hopes that someone would hear him – but nobody was coming to help him. Asher got back to the office – the front counter assistant – Irene Olea greeted him.

“Have you heard, the New York Policy Chief was murdered!” cried Irene.

“Yea, I heard” replied Asher, “what’s this world coming to?”

At first Asher shrugged it all over thinking this was just one of those strange events – little did he realize and the rest of the country it would be a catalyst for something much more. News clips of Jackson took note that he had some Christian Nationalist paraphilia with him.
