The Night We Met
Rain poured heavily across the streets of Ravenford City.
Thunder echoed through the dark sky as expensive cars rushed past the glowing lights of the crowded downtown roads. Inside a black luxury car, Elena sat quietly near the window, lost in thought while soft piano music played through the speakers.
Her long dark hair rested gently across her shoulder, and the reflection of the city lights danced in her eyes. Even surrounded by wealth and comfort, there was always a strange loneliness hidden inside her heart.
“Miss Elena, the weather is getting worse,” the driver said carefully while focusing on the slippery road ahead. “We should reach home within fifteen minutes.”
Elena gave a soft nod before turning back toward the rain-covered window.
For some reason, her mind felt unusually restless that night.
At the same time, on the other side of the city, Adrian stepped out of a small twenty-four-hour pharmacy holding a packet of medicine tightly in his hand.
His shirt was already soaked from the rain.
He quickly checked the medicines once again before placing them safely inside his old backpack. His little sister Lily had been suffering from fever since evening, and he had spent the last of his money buying medicines for her.
Adrian lived a simple life.
No luxury.
No powerful family.
No expensive dreams.
Just responsibilities.
His mother Grace had been waiting anxiously at home while his father Daniel worked late shifts every night to keep the family alive.
Adrian pulled the hood of his jacket over his head and began crossing the nearly empty road under the storm.
That was when everything changed.
A speeding truck lost control on the wet highway.
Its massive headlights flashed violently through the rain as the vehicle skidded across the road directly ui toward Elena’s car.
“LOOK OUT!” the driver screamed.
The next few seconds became chaos.
Tires screeched.
Metal crashed.
Glass shattered into the rain-filled darkness.
Elena’s car spun violently before smashing against the side barrier.
Her vision blurred instantly.
Pain exploded across her forehead as blood slowly trickled down beside her eye. The sound around her became distant and hollow.
Then…
Through the broken glass and heavy rain…
She saw someone running toward the car.
A man.
Tall.
Drenched in rain.
Fearless.
He forced open the damaged car door with both hands despite the smoke and sparks surrounding the vehicle.
“Elena! Can you hear me?” the driver shouted weakly from the front seat.
But Elena’s eyes remained fixed on the stranger standing before her.
For a moment, the storm itself seemed to disappear.
The man carefully removed his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders to protect her from the freezing rain.
His face looked calm even inside the chaos.
His eyes…
They carried a strange warmth she had never seen before.
“Stay awake,” Adrian said softly while lifting her into his arms.
Elena tried to speak.
But no words came out.
Her fingers weakly held onto his shirt as consciousness slowly faded from her body.
The last thing she remembered that night…
Was the face of the stranger who carried her through the rain
