Chapter 1
“Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess. She was loved by the entire kingdom. But she had a secret desire. She wanted to be a knight.”
“Mommy? Why did she want to be a knight?” My small voice piqued up as I hugged my pink teddy bear closer. My mom smiled softly, lowering the book slightly as her emerald eyes met mine.
“Well, my little lovebug, she fell in love with one of them.”
“Why was it a secret?”
Her smile softened. “It wasn’t allowed, my dear.”
I looked as the door swung open and in stepped my father. “Daddy!” I laughed as he swung me into his arms, balancing me on his hip as he leaned in to press a quick kiss on my mother's cheek.
“How are my two favorite girls doing?”
“Mommy is reading me a story!” I exclaimed happily.
He laughed. “What story, Aria?”
My mom looked at him, her eyes immensely soft. “Our story”
“You're a princess mommy?!” I gasp in excitement.
“She’s a queen, Aria”
I squeal as he hugs me closer.
That was ten years ago
“Aria Grace Tompson! I've said to get ready for training five times!” My dad's voice booms from the other side of my room door as I groan.
“Geez dad! I'm up, okay!”
I hear him huff before his footsteps echo as he walks away.
As I stand up, I stretch, letting out a groan as I feel the tension draining from my shoulder joints.
When I get downstairs, I see my parents in the living room talking with our boss, Mr. Styker. I immediately tense up, nodding slightly. “Sir”.
“Agent Maroon. I see you’re finally awake” my face goes red at his tone.
“Yes sir”.
“So... You and Jaedyn - I'm sorry - Agent Tar, have a new mission” he pauses before nodding slightly towards my parents. “They will not be joining you.”
My heart skips a beat. I had NEVER gone on a mission without them. My father approaches, placing a grounding hand on my shoulder. “You’ll do great, Aria”
I nod. “What’s the mission, Mr. Styker?”
He smiles, pulling a file from his bag. As he handed it to me, the name on the front jumped out at me.
Seraphina Deacon
“I'll go study this, sir” he nods. “I trust you, Agent Maroon”.
As I sit in my bed, my fingers brush against the photo attached to the front of the file.
The girl was beautiful. She had light brown skin. her long wavy hair, is just a few shades darker. She had a lovely smile, dimples on her cheeks. From the looks of it, this was a school photo.
I opened the folder and noticed a stack of papers in it.
Name: Seraphina Deacon
Age: 16
Birthday: June 27th, 2004
Important information: Seraphina is the daughter of Mr. Deacon, leader of Black Rose -
Black Rose? Holy shit. That’s the mafia group we’ve been trying to get rid of since, like, forever.
She often answers to Siri. She goes to Woodsbridge High, TX. She is studying psychology and law. Her two best friends, Adrielle and Peace, are her secret bodyguards assigned to blend in (More information on them later)
Job description: Befriend and betray. You must go to Woodsbridge High and befriend her, after, manage to get her alone before knocking her unconscious. Then, bring her back to the warehouse. Agent Maroon and Agent Tar shall pretend to be a couple to accomplish this to stray from any suspicion. After, return and pretend to be devastated for 3 weeks before leaving because ‘the school reminds you of her’.
This should take at least a month.
I blink at the newfound information. Befriend her? What? Though the plan makes sense. Agent Pearl probably came up with the plan.
Well, I better call Jaedyn so we can get ready to go.
