Chapter 1

Nini’s room was a quiet blend of calm and was painted in soft shades of blue, with touches of black that gave it a subtle, elegant edge. The walls were a cool pastel blue, contrasted by black-framed pictures and sleek furniture that added a modern, almost moody feel. A large window draped with sheer navy curtains allowed the early morning light to spill gently into the room.

At the center stood a grand royal king-size bed, dressed in layered blue and black silk sheets, with plush pillows arranged neatly against the headboard. A soft blue rug stretched across the polished floor, and on one side of the room sat a minimalist desk, scattered with neatly stacked books and a closed laptop. On the other side, a tall mirror leaned against the wall, reflecting the soft glow of the morning sun.

Curled up on the bed lay a beautiful teenage girl—no older than sixteen or seventeen. Her light brown hair spilled across the pillow in soft waves, framing her delicate face. Her lips, naturally red and slightly parted, gave her a gentle, almost dreamy look. Deep in sleep, she looked completely at peace.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

The sharp sound of an apple-shaped alarm clock shattered the silence.

“Urrh… what the hell…” Nini muttered under her breath, her voice thick with sleep as she stretched lazily. She pulled her blue teddy bear closer, hugging it in reluctant defeat before reaching out to silence the alarm.

With a quiet groan, she pushed herself out of bed and dragged her feet toward the bathroom. Halfway there, she paused in front of the mirror.

Staring back at her was a girl most people would call beautiful.

Messy light brown hair framed her face, her light blue eyes still heavy with sleep. Long, curled lashes rested against her cheeks, and her expression held a natural softness that made her look almost unreal.

Nini was taller than most of her peers. She was around 5.8 with a naturally curvy figure she constantly tried to hide beneath oversized skirts and loose clothing.

She didn’t like attention.

And she did everything she could to avoid it.

Quickly, she brushed her teeth and took a bath. By the time she stepped back into her room, her personal maid was already waiting.

“Good morning, Miss,” Donna greeted cheerfully.

“Good morning, Donna. Where’s Nanny Lara?” Nini asked, her tone calm but distant.

“She was called by the butler earlier. It seems Madam has some instructions,” Donna replied. “I’ve prepared your uniform.”

Nini’s gaze shifted to the neatly arranged and perfectly ironed outfit laid out on the bed. She gave a small nod.

Donna, already used to her quiet nature, stepped forward and helped her get ready.

Within minutes, Nini transformed herself—dressing in a way that made her almost invisible. Plain. Modest. Unnoticeable.

Exactly how she liked it.

Once ready, she left the room with Donna, heading downstairs.Long corridors. Polished floors. Silent walls that had heard too many conversations and kept all of them to themselves.

Every step echoed faintly.

Too quiet for a house that big.

By the time they reached the staircase, Nini could already see movement below.

And there she was.

Nanny Lara.

A middle-aged woman with a kind face.

The moment she spotted Nini, she smiled warmly at her.

Nanny Lara had been sent over by the old Madam—Nini’s grandmother—who believed Nini’s mother was not competent enough to take care of her grandchild.
