CHAPTER ONE : [ The Initial conditions ]

--------------------------------------------

"OH MY GOD! I don't have anything to WEAR!"

I frantically roam around trying to find a suitable piece of cloth to wear for my first day as a professor~ a very young professor, in fact some students are probably older than me.And as a being that is somehow qualified to teach people, has to look presentable."but how in the world am I gonna do that ?" I don't have anything humanly normal to wrap my body with and my lecture is in half an hour!

"Okay! focus and let's see what we've got." I open my cupboard in Sheer hope to get something to wear, "Shirts, shirts, pants, pajamas... ooh, a suit? Yeah, not in this weather. A pencil skirt perhaps?...Nope not wearing that for six hours. ...A knight's armor? Woah, didn't know I still had that...And- wait, we're done already?" Yep. I'm doomed. At last I settle on a floral shirt and jeans because this is the only thing I can picture myself wearing. "It's better than being naked..."

I literally run down the street as I-am-late because I spend too much time deciding what to wear...and then end up wearing what I first thought of wearing.

I reach the University and while I am walking to the lecture hall Mr Collins greets me and says "Good morning,Congrats ! it's your first ever lecture Miss Bloom and I hope you remember that you have to give your paper work by tomorrow for I need them to get published.By the way that shirt of yours looks really nice".I reply "Thanks, I actually forgot about that thanks again for reminding me I'll bring them tomorrow.I'm just so nervous today and on top of that I am late !". "Seeing you I remember my first day.How I was so nervous at my first day of teaching, but it went so well I still remember that how students thought I was the most strict person alive but then got to know that I was the most chill professor here." I say "I hope that mine goes good as well, umm let's talk later I'm running late" He says good bye and off I go running to my lecture hall .

I enter my lecture hall which is completely in chaos and by chaos I mean chaos these creatures are shouting- no, that word isn't strong enough. They're howling. This place doesn't feel like it's meant for teaching purposes but for summoning demons I mean who shouts like this man?.They are probably celebrating that the professor is late and not here.

I wait for them to notice me but they don't...well Im used to this so I shout "SILENCE !" to assert dominance which I surely succeed in.My voice was nice and crisp and probably scared the shit out them because it did mine.

They look at me in astonishment for they had thought that I was one of their kind.I walk toward the board, write my name -Aaira Bloom and-face them and say "I am your astrophysics professor I have published 10 scientific journals and have published 2 books physics made easy and secrets of the universe" I pause and then say "any questions, anybody?". I see one student taking notes already.Terrifying behavior.

As I glance over the whole class I see a student sitting at the last bench raising his hand.I say "yes".He stands up and when I see him clearly I feel like I have seen him somewhere...wait Sam?.I just keep on standing trying hard not to react. He asks "Ma'am,is it okay to volunteer as assistant for professor's project?". And boom the dynamite has been successfully planted I really don't want him as my assistant...I say"Only if professor allows them to." Hinting him that I don't want him as my assistant, and no one else would. He sits down and I start my lecture on fundamentals of Universe.

It's been 30 minutes and Sam and that note taking kid have asked me 45 questions till now in which sam asked questions which were not from the topic I was discussing. My class ended after two hours and the students had break. As I started to walk to the faculty room, the notes taking guy and Sam came to me,"Good morning ma'am I am kaiden kennedy and I really really really!want to volunteer for the research work you are doing I am quite excited to learn more and have always wanted to work in an project of quantum tunneling and wormhole. This has always been my dream." I look at him.His eyes are sparkling with joy and love of curiosity.I really don't like company and I am fine working alone but I really feel bad for him,so I say "Mr Nicholas would love your company he is working with dark matter and dark energy, and he also was seeking help.It would be better if you work with an experienced person". After saying this I start to walk away and I get interrupted again but this time it's Sam he says "But we want to work with quantum tunneling and wormholes not dark matter,so we are not gonna work with Sir Nicolas,we want to work with you Aaira".Oh hell no I don't want any help from this kaiden I'm better off alone,wait!...we?yeah whatever chance this notes guy had is lost I would never work with this man even in my worst of nightmares. Before I could speak Dean walks in and says "well dear little curiositers (a word he created to address curious students I know this cause I'm unfortunately one of them ) of course Aaira is gonna let you let you in her team." Team? I'm playing solo my dear I don't want these homosepiens in my project.I say to Dean "The concept is quite difficult for first year students." He looks at me and says "These students are extraordinary they have made several research papers and have aced olympiads and competitions. And you do need some help" he points at my eyes-okay my dark circles but I really don't want any help. Before I could open my mouth to argue he says "It's an request".Well the way he said didn't seem like a request.I agreed for I love my job here-I get free food and a whole lab to my self and expensive stuff for my project and off course my five figure salary how can I forget that.I say looking at my new burden "Today at lab- four pm-sharp-with your copies". I then literally walk run to the faculty room so that no one else hops in.

I enter the room and sit at my chair.I take a deep breath and close my eyes trying to accept whatever is going to happen with my life.

While sitting there I couldn't help but think about my first day of high school.

CHAPTER TWO: [FLASHBACK -The wrong kind of beginning]

--------------------------------------------

"Aah! I hate introductions. Why do we even have to do them?"I groaned, walking through the crowded corridor, already annoyed at the idea of speaking in front of a class.

"I know, right? They're so lame."

I stopped mid-step and turned around.

Behind me stood a girl-smiling, calm, and effortlessly pretty.

For a moment, I just stared.

She wasn't just pretty. She was the kind of beautiful that makes you pause longer than you intend to.

"What's wrong? Is everything okay?"she asked, a little confused.

I blinked and said, very honestly, "Girl, you are so damn gorgeous-ouch!"

Before I could finish, someone slammed into me. Hard.

I stumbled and turned, already irritated, just in time to see two boys sprinting past like they were being chased by death itself.

"Are you guys blind?!" I snapped. "Can't you see a whole human standing here?"

"Sorry! We're late to class!" one of them shouted without stopping.

"Classes don't start before eight!" I shot back.

The other one slowed just enough to reply, "Ma'am, I think it's quite ironic of you to call us blind. It's you who’s walking blind. It's already 8:10. I'd advise you to visit a doctor before class,it might help."

And just like that, they disappeared.

I stood there—annoyed, mildly embarrassed, and fully prepared to argue… except there was no one left to argue with.

But more importantly-

I was late.

Great!

"Umm… do you know where Class 11-B is?"the girl asked again.

I sighed. "Yeah. I'm going there too. Just follow me."

We didn’t run.

But we walked fast.

Very fast.

Still, by the time we reached, we were five minutes late. Of course the class had to be on the fourth floor.

And of course…

It had to be Mr. Joshi.

He turned toward us, and for a second, I genuinely felt like lasers might shoot out of his eyes ready to kill us on the spot.

"Aaira," he said slowly, "you are never late."-the perks of being a good student.

Then his gaze shifted to the girl beside me.

"Perhaps you were busy making friends?" he added dryly. "Go sit."

No argument. No explanation.

We moved toward the third bench, but before we could sit-

"Why are you sitting together?" his voice cut through the room. "Planning to talk during my lecture?"

He pointed around the class.

"You-yes, you-go sit behind. Aaira, first bench. And you,"he said, looking at the girl, “sit anywhere… but not near Aaira."

I clenched my jaw literally ready to throw hands .

This man really thinks having friends will destroy my academic record.

I walked to the first bench and sat down-only to realize who I was sitting next to.

The same boy.

The eye-checkup boy.

Great.

He didn’t even acknowledge my existence. He was completely absorbed in his work, surrounded by five thick books. His notebook was filled with solutions each question solved in four different ways.

Fucking!-

Four!-

Different!-

Ways!

And his handwriting?

It looked like it belonged to some advanced civilization.

I stared for a second.

Who even does that?

Deciding this wasn’t worth my time, I opened my notebook and started solving sums, secretly relieved that I had missed the introductions.

When the class ended, I pulled out my physics book, ready to study, when a voice came from behind me.

"Girl, don’t even think about it."

I turned. "Think about what?"

The boy behind me leaned forward dramatically. "About stealing my man. I saw you looking at him—wait—no—staring. I mean, yeah, he’s hot, but he’s taken. Taken by me."

I stared at him quite Unimpressed.

"First of all," I said calmly, "I was looking at his books, not him. Second of all, I don’t get attracted to humans. The only thing I like is knowledge, which you are pretty deficient of. So please, keep your man to yourself and celebrate him. I don’t want that lump of flesh. I'm better off thinking about giant balls of plasma than having a conversation with your kind."

He gasped, dramatically placing a hand over his chest. "You called my love a lump of clay? How insensitive!"

"I meant a specific configuration of mammalian tissue," I corrected.

"Woah! Whatever you say—tissue, remains of stardust and all that—but you should know the only person that belongs in his heart is ME."

"Enough!"

The boy beside me finally snapped.

"I'm trying to solve something here. If you two want to fight, go outside and maybe use swords while you're at it ."

He paused, then added without even looking up, "I'm Theo. And this is Sam."

And just like that, he went back to solving his problem like we didn’t exist.

I blinked.

Well…

This is going to be interesting.

Time passed, and eventually the recess bell rang. The entire class rushed out like they had been imprisoned for years.

I grabbed my lunch and was about to leave when—

"We're not done, my lady,"Sam groaned behind me. "We still have some business left."

I stopped.

I had had enough of this.

I turned back slowly, clenching my fist, not because I wanted to punch him (yet), but because I was trying very hard to choose words over violence.

"Oh? Business?" I said. "So what do you do, exactly? Walk around announcing that this man is yours? How much do you earn from that?"

I tilted my head slightly.

"Oh wait… the probability of you earning any money from this is zero. Because it's an impossible event. What you're doing isn't a real job—it's a side quest."

That was good.

That was really good.

I mentally congratulated myself.

Except....

Sam wasn't even listening.

He was staring at something.

Completely distracted.

My entire comeback…

All Wasted.

I frowned, annoyed, and turned to see what had captured his attention.

It was the blackboard.

Where a notice was written (I don't know who wrote it... but they must’ve been really fast. )

The notice stated something about an exhibition that was gonna happen after 3 weeks but I mean who in the world holds an exhibition during the first month of school man ? Yeah a very peculiar one where unfortunately I study. But I love experiments and showing them as well so yeah I am going to participate.
