The city lights were blurred into murky streaks of grey and yellow as the rain continued to pelt against the Mehrawat mansion's glass windows. Even though the storm outside was loud and severe, Siyara Mehrawat felt more alone in her chamber. Even so. suffocating. Wearing an enormous cream shawl, Siyara stood close to the window and gazed blankly at the precipitation trickling down the pane. Sleep would never be able to restore the exhausted look in her eyes. For three weeks. Three weeks have passed after Avir Singhania's passing. It has been three weeks since the days before their wedding, the man she loved was torn from her. And somehow, as if nothing had happened, the world had carried on. Meetings were still attended by people. The streets were still packed with cars. The dominion of Singhania remained strong. Everyone continued to breathe. except from her. Another memory of Avir chuckling quietly while adjusting the engagement ring on her finger flashed through her head, causing her fingers to tighten over the shawl's edge. He had once mocked, "You look at me like I'm temporary." Perhaps he was always. She flashed a bitter smile, but it vanished as fast. "None of this would have happened if you had never left me," she said softly into the empty room. The sky was filled with flashes of lightning. Siyara's expression stiffened for a moment. Because she was no longer just filled with grief. There, too, suspicion had found a home. Everyone referred to Avir's passing as an accident. A terrible mishap. However, there was something off about it. The calls went unanswered. The abrupt quiet. The night before Avir's death, she had witnessed the terror in his eyes. Kshayaan Singhania was another. chilly. Not readable. keeping a close eye on everything following the funeral. Slowly, Siyara closed her eyes. "I'll find out what really happened that night, no matter what it takes," she muttered, her voice barely heard over the storm. At that moment, there was a knock in her chamber. And then things started to shift.
