Chapter 1 My heart

Don’t Fall in Love chapter 1

intro / prologue

My heart .

The first time Niel Adamson

stepped foot in the kingdom of Newfield was at the tender age of seven

Around that same time the queen fell ill and was in dire need of medical attention or to be exact

She needed medicine.

But there weren’t many who specialize in medicine or treating the sick .

Mr and Mrs Adamson one of the only few scholars who specialized in medicinal care such as treating the sick and making medicine .

They came with a singular goal , to offer their help to queen Angelina Elasteen.

Their treatment of the queen was so shockingly amazing that they were rewarded with a home inside the palace , they were treated as royalty and loved throughout the kingdom .

They did not just give medical attention to the queen but to every person in the kingdom (but) despite the love and admiration from the kingdom , people, king and queen, niel’s Lorraine mother never really felt at home despite being situated there for years.

So as time flew, with the death of her husband William Adamson / Niels father she made the grueling decision to leave the kingdom and return to the land in which she was born.

Her departure was after the request of king Garron Elesteen , she was to share her knowledge of medicine to the rest of the kingdom so that they could also treat the sick and learn medicine .

But

There wasn’t a single person who showed even the slightest amount of interest in studying to treat the sick.

Young men worked for one singular reason to become the best warrior and become a knight who fights on the battlefield .

Young women all were searching for only the bravest and strongest of men who bear the title of warriors , to marry .

For in this world wielding knowledge about learning was of no use to them,

That is why Lorraine Adamson made the unbearable decision to offer her son Niel Adamson to king Garron Elesteen .

Before the death of William Adamson they had passed down all their knowledge of medicine

And treating the sick down to niel

As time continued niel adamson became the right hand man of king garron and took care of the queen’s health by ensuring she always has enough medication.

Growing up niel was a truly content person; he never asked for more and found peace in everything they already had , king Garron would always ask

If there isn’t anything he desired for he took such good care of the king’s wife .

But Niels answer would always remain the same ,as always he declined the offer and with a grateful tone he simply thanked the king for opening the kingdom’s doors to him and his parents it was clear that niel didn’t want anything from the king , or so it would seem .

One quiet morning Niel is seen standing before king Garron Elesteen reporting the current situation of the kingdom .

“That is all,” he said, confidence threading through his voice. A small smile touched his lips as he added, “The kingdom is in excellent condition, Your Highness—perhaps the finest it has ever been.”

“Well, I have you to thank for that, Niel,” the king said, easing back into his throne. He studied Niel with an unreadable expression.

One quiet thought crept through the mind of king Garron.

“It feels like only yesterday you first arrived here. You’ve grown into quite a remarkable young man he thought before saying.

“Niel, as my trusted advisor and right hand, you have done much for me,” the king said calmly. “Yet I fear I have not repaid even a fraction of what I owe you.” He paused, then added, “Speak your desire, Niel. If it lies within my power, I shall grant it.”

Niel let out a quiet chuckle. “Your Highness, with all due respect… haven’t you asked me this a little too many times?” he said, smiling in mild confusion. Seriously, this has to be the hundredth time, he mused silently. He’s been asking me the same question since the day I became his trusted advisor.

Garron’s stare fell upon Niel, chilling him to the bone.

“Niel,” the king said—not in anger, nor annoyance, but with the calm authority of a man who carried centuries of wisdom in his voice. “You are human. Whether you admit it or not, you, too, possess desires. Speak the truth, what is it that you desire .

Niel glanced up at Garron, awe shining briefly in his eyes before he lowered them again.

What do I want? The thought echoed quietly within him. Since childhood, I’ve never desired much. My parents’ love was enough. Even when I moved into the palace, my heart stayed simple—food, shelter, a warm bed. What more could anyone ask for?

But…

Sweat trickled slowly down Niel’s forehead as his voice faltered, each word a struggle to escape the depth of his heart. He swallowed hard, chest tightening with the weight of what he longed to say.

“Your Highness… may I… have just one request… if… if it lies within your power to grant it?”

“Go on, Niel,” the king said, his voice calm, though a faint smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. For years I have asked the same question, he thought, ‘Niel, what is it that you desire?’ And yet… I never received the answer I sought. Could this finally be the time I will hear it? His smile widened imperceptibly, a quiet anticipation stirring within him.

But the king’s anticipation slowly ebbed, replaced almost immediately by confusion, his brow knitting as Niel’s words hung in the air.

“I… I would like you to give me my heart,” Niel said, his voice trembling yet unwavering.

“What kind of request is this, Niel?” the king asked, his voice tinged with genuine confusion. “How… how am I supposed to give you something that is already inside you?”

“Niel, what you are requesting is impossible,” the king said, shaking his head— but Niel cut him off.“My king,” Niel burst out, his voice rising before he could stop himself, “you have my heart in your hands!”

“Ever since my eyes met hers, my heart followed,” Niel said, his voice softening into something almost dreamlike. “She is my heart in human form… and all I want is for her to be by my side.”

He spoke as if lost in a trance, the truth pulling him forward step by step as he slowly approached the king, unable to hold himself back any longer.

King Garron looked down at Niel, unease flickering across his face. His posture stiffened, the weight of Niel’s words pressing into him.

“Niel… what is it you’re trying to say?” he asked, his voice low, uncertain, almost afraid of the answer.

“What I’m trying to say is…” Niel swallowed hard, gathering what courage he had left. “No—my request is to take your daughter’s hand in marriage.”

The words left him trembling, yet they carried a conviction he could no longer hide.
