I will never be with you.” But as time runs out, Felix is forced into Hyunjin’s dark world filled with danger, obsession, secrets, and emotions neither of them expected. The Debt

The rain hammered against the cracked windows of the old apartment like it wanted to drown the entire city. Inside, the air was thick with the sour scent of medicine and fear. Lee Felix stood in the narrow hallway, heart hammering against his ribs, as the front door creaked open without a knock.

Hwang Hyunjin didn’t need permission to enter anywhere.

He stepped inside like the apartment belonged to him already—tall, sharp-featured, dressed in a black coat that probably cost more than Felix’s entire life. His alpha pheromones rolled in with him: dark mahogany, smoked cedar, and something colder underneath, like steel left out in winter rain. It filled the small space instantly, making Felix’s omega instincts scream danger, submit, run.

Felix refused to flinch.

Behind him, in the dimly lit bedroom, his father coughed weakly. The man who once ran a promising import business now lay frail, skin pale and clammy, the failed deal having shattered not just their finances but his health too. The doctors called it stress-induced cardiomyopathy. Felix called it a death sentence if they didn’t fix this.

And the man responsible for collecting stood right in front of him.

“Lee Felix,” Hyunjin said, voice low and smooth, almost amused. His eyes—sharp, predatory—dragged over Felix slowly. “So you’re the son.”

Felix lifted his chin. “Get out of my house.”

A faint smirk tugged at Hyunjin’s lips. Nobody spoke to him like that. Especially not a soft-looking omega with freckles across his nose and defiance burning in his gaze.

Hyunjin’s gaze flicked toward the bedroom, then back. “Six hundred million won. Your father’s signature is all over the documents. He thought he could play in my world and walk away clean. Pathetic.”

“He’s sick,” Felix bit out. “He can’t even get out of bed. Whatever he did, he’s already paying for it.”

Hyunjin took one step closer. The scent of him grew heavier, wrapping around Felix like invisible chains. “I don’t run a charity. Debts get paid. One way or another.”

Felix’s hands curled into fists. His own scent—warm vanilla and sea salt, now laced with sharp anxiety—betrayed him despite his steady voice.

Hyunjin continued, tilting his head. “I’m giving you a choice, pretty omega. Come and stay with me. Live in my house, under my rules. I’ll forgive the entire debt. Your father gets to keep breathing.”

Felix’s breath caught.

“Or,” Hyunjin went on, voice dropping, “you have one month to find the money. Every single won. If you fail…” His eyes flicked toward the bedroom again. “I kill him. Slowly. So he feels exactly what his greed cost him.”

Silence stretched between them, broken only by the rain and the distant, ragged breathing of Felix’s father.

Felix’s stomach twisted. The idea of belonging to this alpha—this mafia leader known for his ruthlessness—made bile rise in his throat. He could already imagine it: the collar, the control, the way alphas like Hyunjin broke omegas for sport.

“No,” Felix said immediately, voice shaking with fury rather than fear. “I will try to get you the money. I’ll find a way. I will never be with you.”

For a second, something flickered in Hyunjin’s eyes. Surprise. Then dark delight.

No one had ever rejected him so flatly. Not omegas who threw themselves at his feet for power or protection, not rivals who begged for mercy. But this freckled boy with fire in his veins and terror for his father’s life looked him dead in the eye and said never.

Hyunjin’s smirk deepened. He stepped even closer, close enough that Felix had to tilt his head up. The alpha’s scent intensified, deliberately, curling around Felix like a promise and a threat at once.

“Interesting,” Hyunjin murmured. “Most omegas would be on their knees already. But you… you smell like you’d rather bite me than submit.”

Felix didn’t back down. “Touch my father and I’ll kill you.”

Hyunjin laughed softly, the sound rich and dangerous. “Bold words for someone whose heat could hit any day now and leave him vulnerable. One month, Felix. I’ll be watching.”

He turned toward the door, coat swirling. At the threshold he paused, glancing back over his shoulder.

“And when you inevitably fail… I won’t just take you. I’ll make sure you beg to stay.”

The door clicked shut behind him.

Felix sank against the wall, legs trembling. His father’s weak voice called from the bedroom, “Felix… who was that?”

He closed his eyes, breathing hard. The scent of mahogany and cedar still clung to his clothes.

One month.

He had no idea where to even begin finding that kind of money. But he would rather die trying than let Hwang Hyunjin own him.
