A Morning Full of Noise

The morning carried a quiet kind of beauty, but the peace never lasted for long.

Near the back side of the campus, a fight had already broken out.

A few boys stood in a messy circle, throwing punches and shouting over each other. In the middle of it was him.

His fists landed harder than anyone else’s.

There was anger in every movement — raw, uncontrollable anger, as if he had been waiting for a reason to let it out. The others could barely fight back before they stumbled away from him.

By the time it ended, silence slowly returned to the corridor.

Later, inside the classroom, he sat quietly in his seat as though nothing had happened.

But everyone kept staring at him.

A few people feel that his actions were correct.

Some judged him without even trying to hide it.

Others simply avoided meeting his eyes

He noticed all of it.

He just did not care anymore.

Beside him, his friend leaned a little closer and muttered softly,

"Why are you fighting unnecessarily for me?"

He gave no reply.

His friend sighed before sitting back properly.

Just then, the classroom slowly settled as the class was about to begin.

A few moments later, the classroom door slid open.

The teacher walked in slowly, his eyes immediately falling on Mithran.

“Tell me you didn’t fight with someone again,” he said with a tired sigh, though his voice carried more concern than anger. “Try to control your temper a little, da.”

Mithran looked away quietly, resting his chin against his hand as if he had heard the same words far too many times before.

The teacher let out another small sigh before turning toward the class.

“Alright… we have a new student joining us today.”

The room instantly grew more attentive.

A girl slowly stepped inside the classroom.

She stood near the teacher’s table, lightly clutching the strap of her bag. There was a hint of nervousness in her eyes despite the calm expression she tried to maintain.

After a brief pause, she spoke softly.

“I’m Aadhirai. The group I wanted wasn’t available in my previous school… so I joined here for eleventh grade.”

That was all she said.

Then she simply stood there quietly.

A few students immediately began whispering among themselves, curious about the new girl.

Mithran watched her silently from the last bench.

For a moment, he frowned slightly.

What is with this girl…? he thought irritably. Why is she acting all quiet and innocent like this?

Something about her calmness annoyed him for reasons even he did not understand.

The teacher soon continued with the lesson as though nothing unusual had happened.

The classroom slowly settled into silence, filled only with the sound of pages turning and chalk scraping against the board.

Mithran barely paid attention.

He carefully listening th class

The moment the class ended, the silence disappeared.

Almost everyone immediately gathered around Aadhirai’s desk, curious to speak with the new girl.

To Mithran’s surprise, she was nothing like the quiet girl from earlier.

She laughed easily, spoke without hesitation, and somehow blended into the crowd within minutes. Her smile carried an effortless warmth that made people naturally stay around her.

Mithran watched the scene from afar before looking away with slight irritation.

What even is this girl…?

A few minutes ago she acted all silent and nervous. Now she’s talking and laughing with everyone like she’s known them forever.

He scoffed quietly to himself.

Maybe people just like pretending.

No matter how much others avoided Mithran, one person never truly left him alone — Selva.

Selva casually dropped into the seat beside him and tilted his head toward Aadhirai’s side of the classroom.

“Hey, did you notice?” he whispered with a grin. “The new girl actually looks pretty nice.”

Mithran glanced at him blankly before replying in a dry tone,

“I never thought your taste could be this terrible.”

Selva burst out laughing instead of getting offended.

By now, he was more than used to Mithran’s rude replies.

For reasons people could never properly explain, there were always certain faces that irritated them the moment they saw them.

That was exactly how Mithran felt about Aadhirai.

No matter what she did, something about her constantly got on his nerves.

Days passed like that.

And during most of those days, Mithran was usually busy fighting with someone — especially Prasanna, a boy who somehow managed to annoy him more than anyone else in class.

Their arguments had become so common that half the classroom barely reacted anymore.

One afternoon, yet another fight broke out between the two of them near the corridor.

Aadhirai, who happened to witness it, stared with visible curiosity instead of fear.

Turning toward Selva, she asked innocently,

“Do people in your school always fight like this?”

Before he could answer, she continued with an amused smile,

“My old school was super strict. Nobody even let us have fun there. But here, you guys fight so casually…”

Selva nearly laughed hearing the way she described it.

Unfortunately for her, Mithran overheard every word.

He slowly turned toward her with disbelief written across his face.

What exactly is wrong with this girl? he thought irritably. Does she think this is entertainment? Is she a psycho or something?

At that exact moment, Prasanna’s fist landed squarely across Mithran’s face.

For the first time in a long while, Mithran actually took a proper hit.

The corridor instantly went silent.

Mithran wiped the blood near his lip and glared toward Aadhirai with growing irritation.

“Great,” he muttered angrily to Selva. “This girl showed up and suddenly I’m getting punched too.”

Without another thought, he walked straight toward her.

Aadhirai blinked in confusion the moment he stopped in front of her.

“Do you seriously have no common sense?” Mithran snapped harshly. “Watching people fight looks fun to you? Are you insane?”

His voice echoed loudly enough for nearby students to turn and stare.

For a second, even Aadhirai stood frozen.

She said nothing back.

But the irritation on her face was impossible to miss.

Later, while walking with her friend, she continued complaining under her breath.

“Why did he yell at me like that? I should’ve shouted back too. Ugh… I just stood there like an idiot.”

Her friend tried calming her down gently.

“Don’t take what Mithran says seriously. Nobody can really change the way he is.”

But Aadhirai’s anger refused to disappear that easily.

A few minutes later, she spotted Mithran walking alone through the corridor.

Without thinking twice, she quickly bent down, grabbed a tiny stone from the ground, and threw it straight at him.

It hit his shoulder.

Mithran instantly turned around.

The moment he did, Aadhirai pointed at him dramatically and shouted,

“You shouldn’t have yelled at me today!”

And before he could even react—

she turned and ran away immediately.
