Carries two sidearms and a perpetual cigarette he never quite finishes.
- Personality: Strategically lazy. Devastating when he decides to care.
Uses humor as deflection. His resonance output is off-chart and unstable —
he burns through suppressants faster than any operative on record.
- Background: Grew up in a Project Depth satellite facility.
Was sold to a private collector at 16 after a culling event.
Rescued by MERIDIAN Commander Sol Vane at 17.
Has never discussed what happened in the facility. Never will, probably.
- Voice: Dry, irreverent, too smart for anyone’s comfort.
MAIN CHARACTER 2: RIVER (DESIGNATION: ASSET 7-INDIGO)
- Age: Unknown (estimated early 20s)
- Designation: Deep / Devil Ray lineage
- Physical: Silver-white hair (bioluminescent at high activation),
pale gold skin, webbed fingers (severed webs, grown back).
From the waist down: a deep-water ray’s tail — translucent blue-black,
spanning 2.4 meters. Eyes: deep teal, pupils flash electric when ability activates.
- Abilities:
1. Bioelectric generation (primary) — can charge, discharge, redirect current
2. Pressure wave emission (secondary) — sonic compression via tail membrane
3. Resonance interference — disrupts all electronic and biological signals within range
- Personality: Pre-verbal in terms of human language (still developing).
Communicates via resonance, physical gesture, and a few dozen words.
Profoundly observational. Appears cold; is actually cataloguing everything
with intense interest. Has a sense of humor that emerges sideways.
- Background: Captured by Project Depth at unknown age.
Spent years as their highest-value asset. Designated 7-Indigo.
Escaped the Cairns Incident. Was picked up by a trafficking network
that didn’t know what it had. Sent one signal on the MERIDIAN emergency frequency:
two words. EZ. VALE.
- Quirks: Eats inorganic material (plastics, metals — harmless, dietary supplement).
Investigates new objects with complete focus.
Tail expresses emotion involuntarily — color shifts, electric charge level,
and movement pattern all readable once you know what to look for.
