Full Story.
It was a typical summer day, with the sun shining brightly overhead and a cloudless sky. August days often felt the same, but I distinctly remembered feeling excited as we prepared to embark on a trip.
"Josh, am all set" I called from the door. Soon he was out from the room.
"Okay, let's go" he said wrapping his hand around me, leading me out.
We visited numerous sites that day, and as evening fell, we settled into s restaurant.
" Are you okay?" He asked.
" yeah, I love today, it's one of my best days" all smiles.
We were having the time of our lives when a sudden gunshot pierced the air. At first we thought it was just a
distant noise, but as we saw people scrambling to flee, panic set in. The restaurant erupted into chaos as
everyone rushed to get away.
We held hands and ran too, but there was no way out, every exit had been sealed, plunging us into even
greater confusion
" stay here, I'll go look for away" he said, letting go of my hand but I caught his elbow with a worried look on my face
" don't worry, I'll be back" he assured pulling my hand away.
I watched him leave and I quickly found a place to hide. Barely had he disappeared when I heard a gunshot.
Everything inside me shattered, that I couldn't shake the thought it might be him.
When the chaos subsided, my eyes scanned the area frantically, hoping he would emerge from somewhere. I
ventured into the restricted zone, desperate to find him. A police officer restrained me, but I was beyond
reason. After a fierce struggle, I was subdued and hospitalized.....and it was there, in that hospital, I made a
promise.
The news broke, revealing that the attack on out location was caused by a terrorist group that has been
causing unrest in the nation. Reports include they managed to infiltrate our area, and in response, I have
vowed to take action.
Years later, the pain still lingered but it had forged me into a stronger, more resilient person. I had joined the
force, not out of desire to serve the nation but because I wanted a lawful avenue for revenge.
A tip came in that the terrorists had been spotted at a nearly train station. We quickly geared up, calling for
backup as we prepared to respond. Although we had received a standard protocol instructions, I had other
plans in mind.
This organization had wreaked havoc, claiming countless live and destroying properties, leaving the state in a state of insecurity and uncertainty.
When we got to the train station, silence greet us. My best guess, either they had fled or were holding the
citizens hostage.
After surrounding the station, our commander announced our presence. I broke away from the team, intent
on pursuing my own agenda. I crept down a stair way at the ready, careful to stay out of sight.
I positioned myself in a corner, watching as the police entered the station. Suddenly, masked men emerged
from the shadows, and the sound of gun fire erupted. The scene quickly descended into chaos, with my
colleagues caught in the crossfire.
Unfazed by the chaos, I pushed forward, focused on my objective. I peered through a narrow opening from my hiding spot, taking in the grim scene. A group of hostage, their mouths gagged and bodies strapped with
explosives, cowered in fear.
I walked in, my presence calm and calculated
" hands up or I'll shoot" but my words seemed to amuse them. They began walking towards me, with out their guns
" are you underestimating me? Fine" I holstered my gun and assumed a fighting stance, ready for whatever
was about to go down.
They charged at me with brutal intensity, but I was primed for the fight. My extensive combat training kicked
in, and I swiftly took them down, slapping handcuffs on the pair.
I approached the hostages, reassuring them with calm tone, and began to untie them. But my instincts kicked
in as I sensed a threat approaching-a ruthless figure charging towards me with a cold gaze.
I looked up at him, I saw a heavily armed man-but he wields on weapon, almost as if he wanted a fair fight
" who are you?" I asked looking around
" the boss around here? I asked again but he remained silent, his cold gaze fixed intently on me. The mask
shrouding his face made it impossible to read his expression, adding to the unnerving intensity of the
moment.
I extended my telescoping baton and charged at him, unleashing a flurry of strikes. But he was a formidable
opponent, effortlessly deflecting every blow with precision and skill
I witnessed my colleagues fall to their superior strength, but I refused to yield. I fought with every ounce of
strength I had, when he closed in trapping me in his grasp, I made a desperate bid for freedom, drawing a
blade and striking at his leg. He shoved me away, sending me crashing to my knees, I looked up at him.
He pressed his hand to the bleeding wound, his gaze snapping back to me with a cold fury. He got out a dagger, and advanced towards, his movements swift and purposeful.
I was fighting for survival, scrambling to find an opening to strike back, but he was relentless, refusing to back down.
His blade sliced through my abdomen twice and I doubled over, gasping in agony as I touched the wounds,
feeling the warm blood spreading. He loomed over me, his expression unreadable, refusing to utter a single
word.
" you're afraid I'll get you arrested? Murderer" I yelled, charging at him. He swiftly overpowered me sending me crashing to the ground, and delivered a precise strike, deep into my body.
I couldn't yell out, my eyes rolling back as the pain overwhelmed my senses. I tried to take his hands off me
but he held me down twisting the dagger in me. I gazed up at him as he knelt over me and the look was
unmistakably familiar.
" Josh" I called out unconsciously. I saw the look of surprise and uncertainty wash over him
" Kelly?" He called taking off the mask from my face, his eyes widened in surprise
" what happened?" He asking quickly suppressing the area he stabbed without taking out the dagger.
It was a question I wanted to ask but my voice was frozen, the words hung on my lips.
" you..were alive?" I managed to say
" Don't say anything, you'll loose all your strength" looking over him, the other masked men, now freed closed in-He knew.
He swiftly took out another dagger, striking them in their foreheads. They fall back dead. He turned to me, his expression was clouded with confusion. He knew I wouldn't survive.
" I looked for you, where were you?" Years streamed down his face. The same question I had wanted to ask
but it remained trapped in my lips. His voice grew distant, his face blurring as my vision faded to black-That
was it.
I had so many questions to ask but can't. How did we end up on opposite sides of the law? I guess my search
wasn't deep, I thought he was dead. What went wrong?
