“The Girl Who Knew Too Much”
Main Characters:
Aanya Mehra – calm, intelligent university student, observant, secretly braveKabir Sinha – quiet transfer student, mysterious past, too many secretsInspector Raghav Deshmukh – investigating a missing student caseMira Kapoor – Aanya’s best friend, cheerful but gets pulled into danger
The rain didn’t just fall that night.
It felt like it was warning her.
Aanya Mehra stood near the university library steps, staring at her phone screen. One message. Unknown number.
“Stop asking questions about Arjun Patel… if you want to stay alive.”
Her fingers went cold.
Arjun Patel was a student who disappeared two weeks ago. The university called it “personal reasons.” But nobody believed that. Not even Aanya.
Because she had seen something.
Something she wasn’t supposed to see.
And now someone knew she was looking.
“Are you going to stand in the rain all night?”
A voice cut through the storm.
Aanya turned sharply.
A boy stood under the dim streetlight. Wet hair. Dark jacket. Calm eyes that didn’t match the chaos around them.
Kabir Sinha.
The new transfer student.
He wasn’t supposed to be there.
“I’m fine,” she said quickly.
“You’re shaking,” he replied.
That annoyed her more than it should have.
“I said I’m fine.”
Kabir stepped closer, just enough for her to notice his voice dropped lower.
“You shouldn’t dig into things that get people killed, Aanya.”
Her heart stopped for half a second.
“…How do you know my name?”
A small pause.
Then he said, “Everyone knows the girl who keeps asking the wrong questions.”
And then he walked away.
Like he hadn’t just cracked her world open.
The next day, Inspector Raghav visited campus.
Another student had gone missing.
Same pattern.
Same silence from the administration.
Aanya stood near the hallway, listening.
“Three disappearances in one month,” Raghav said. “And all connected to the same research group.”
A research group?
Aanya froze.
Because Arjun had been part of one.
And so had Kabir.
Her eyes snapped toward him across the corridor.
He was already looking at her.
Like he knew she had figured it out.
That night, Mira dragged Aanya to the campus basement archive.
“I found something weird,” Mira whispered.
Dust. Old files. Broken lights.
They pulled out a folder.
ARJUN PATEL — RESEARCH FILES
Aanya opened it.
Her stomach dropped.
Illegal experiments.
Unauthorized chemical testing.
And names of students involved.
Kabir Sinha was listed.
Right there.
Black ink. No escape.
Behind them, a door creaked.
Slow.
Deliberate.
Mira turned first.
Her voice barely came out.
“…Aanya?”
Footsteps.
Not hers.
Not Mira’s.
Someone else was in the room.
Kabir stepped out of the shadows.
No surprise on his face.
Only exhaustion.
“You shouldn’t have opened that file,” he said quietly.
Aanya backed away.
“You were part of it.”
“No,” he said immediately. “I was trying to stop it.”
“Then why is your name there?”
A long silence.
Then Kabir spoke.
“Because I was undercover.”
That hit differently.
Aanya didn’t know what to believe anymore.
He looked at her, softer now.
“I didn’t want you involved.”
“Too late,” she said.
Outside, thunder cracked.
And somewhere in the building—
a scream echoed.
Lights went out.
Total darkness.
Mira grabbed Aanya’s hand.
“Run!”
Footsteps behind them.
Fast.
Heavy.
Not Kabir.
Someone else.
They sprinted through corridors, emergency lights flickering like broken heartbeat signals.
A door slammed open ahead
Kabir.
“THIS WAY!”
Aanya hesitated.
Trusting him could be a mistake.
Not trusting him could be death.
She chose him.
They ran.
Kabir led them underground.
A hidden lab.
Metal walls. Broken equipment. Burnt papers.
“This is where it happened,” he said.
Aanya stared.
“This is where Arjun disappeared?”
Kabir nodded.
“And where they’ll come back for us.”
Mira whispered, “Who is ‘they’?”
Kabir didn’t answer.
Because the answer came from behind them.
Clap. Clap. Clap.
Slow applause.
A man stepped into the light.
Inspector Raghav.
But not as they knew him.
His smile was calm.
Too calm.
“You’ve been digging nicely, Aanya,” he said.
Her blood turned cold.
Kabir stepped forward slightly.
“Let them go.”
Raghav tilted his head.
“Oh Kabir… still trying to play hero?”
Aanya turned sharply.
“…You know him?”
Kabir’s jaw tightened.
“Yes.”
Pause.
Then the truth dropped like a knife.
“He’s the one who started all of this.”
The sirens started outside.
But inside the lab, everything felt trapped.
Raghav smiled.
“You’re too late. The experiment already worked.”
Kabir whispered to Aanya:
“If anything happens… don’t trust what you remember.”
Aanya didn’t understand.
Not yet.
Then the lights flashed—
and everything went white.
